Absolutely love this place. Met two of the nicest park rangers ever. Very friendly people

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!! We recently spent 4 days here during the 4th of July holiday and it was great. The grounds are very well cared for, and the bathrooms are very clean. It's location is absolutely awesome, you can access multiple beaches by vehicle or on foot. The campsites are good size, and very cheap "20 per night". There is not any power for the campsites however you can use a generator from 6 am - 10 pm. It was very quiet, and we totally enjoyed our visit here. I 100 % recommend this place if you are wanting to camp in this area.

Bring your canoe or boat?! Entire place is flooded out about 4”-5” over the pavement roads and deeper in the grass/vegetation. Definitely not able to camp in April 2024. But it’s a good location off the ocean front.

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, and it’s been over 15 years. This place will always have my heart. It’s just at clean and beautiful since the 1st time my parents took me. The restrooms and showers have been remodeled which great and the lots are very well taking care of. I do miss having a park ranger 24/7 to check on guests and any interruptions at night. Only thing I was would say is generators should NOT be allowed to be on all night.

I really enjoyed the scenery. It was so calm and peaceful. The fishing was amazing! First time I've seen the ocean and fished it and landed an amazing stingray! Site was nice. Could have been mowed but wasn't there much more than to sleep. Showers were freezing cold to the point of being painful and no lighting which was a pain. But overall I can't wait to come back again, just need somewhere else to shower

Fantastic boondocking campground. I have an annual beach pass and there are several great beach driving areas here. As well as a beach road that takes you right to Frisco.

National Park Service does a good job. It's prone to flooding but there's always High Ground three beaches to choose from South Beach being the best it's real camping here there's no shade you're subjected to the elements that's the way it should be but remember don't make a reservation in advance

Got to the campground and the site I reserved was under water. Ranger let me pick another. Hardly any campers so it wasn't hard. Very very quiet at night. The light from Hatteras Lighthouse lit up the campground with every pass. Walked to the beach then found out there is parking at the end of the beach ramp past the dunes.

Very large campground, unfortunately the grass needed to be severely mowed which in my estimation contributed to a mosquitoes haven. To be blunt I expect more from my government and the taxes that we pay to assure that everyone is taken care of especially when we are spending our hard earned money on vacation. Shame, shame, shame. It would have been much better if the bathroom facilities had showers which to my wife especially would have made our stay that much more enjoyable. I hate to say that my wife is done with tent camping forever. Too bad because the area has so much to offer. I would love to visit again but the next time my wife assures that there will be no camping lol.

We found this place by chance after dark. All the campsites we went to were booked or full. It was so easy to get online and pay for our spot, and the price was great! Only $20. We haven't seen prices like that in awhile. It was very open. There were other campers there too, but every was fairly spread out. You got to choose your own spot. We did have one loud neighbor that blasted his music into the late night and again in the early morn, but other than that, this place was great. I'd stay here again. Also, has working restrooms.
