We loved our site. Lots of green grass for the dogs to run. Clean bathroom. We were not on the lakeside we were at 2018 which is right by the bathroom and large area to run A playground was there to, but we didn't use it. The shower was big, but you have to keep pressing the button for more water and it wasn't very warm. But it had a inside. The first time on this trip I wasn't sweating after a shower but nice a cool. We almost stayed another night, but lots more to see.

A great campground! Great location, great price! Shame about the bugs! We loved staying here for a few days while we explored St Louis and its surrounds, the view was stunning, and facilities were well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the amount of bugs and mosquitoes! It was really bad, and meant we didn’t sit outside as much, as you just couldn’t get away from them. A great stay, minus our 100 new bug bites!

A gorgeous campground. Sites are huge, many on the water. Electric sies and 3 ways available. Bathroom/Shower facilities good clean condition. Park was very clean. Water levels low, burn ban in effect.

Nice campground. Sites are mostly spaced out but have very little privacy. Bathrooms and showers were clean and worked well.

Went to damn west at Carlyle today july 10th 2025 at noon the host an old gentleman with Grey hair was a huge jerk. When I was trying to get information from him he raised his voice to drown me out. My mother and I are both disabled. I have a licensed service dog. Now by federal law she is allowed to go anywhere i go. The guy was so rude I wasn't able to speak nor was my mother. With this type of person being in a position of control is ridiculous I will be letting everyone know how I was treated and I have worked in the rv industry for years I will be spreading the word throughout my customers as well.

Stayed: 9/15/2024 to 9/19/2024. We had 4 nights here site 50 is breathtaking, electric only. Pull through. We paid $9 a night with our lifetime seiners pass. All sites are huge here. And some have EW-S.

I love camping. Going to a Corp of engineers camp ground is a way better experience than a state owned campground. The bathroom/ shower is cleaned EVERYDAY! The lady that does it is there at 7 am cleaning our bathroom. Walls, showers, doors, knobs, toilets, of course. I even watched her sweep the playground equipment. ( every 2 weeks, ) Then 2 times a week, she cleans out the firepits of ash. I did see another lady cleaning one day. Some people are not appreciated enough. I am posting this to say .....these woman should get a raise... I thanked them in person and now I'm thanking them to the world ! Have a great winter of bathroom ladies. The campground bathroom is cleaner than some restaurant ( that recently had lystria) that " are practicing better sanitary guidelines " Those guidelines SHOULD ALWAYS BE PRACTICED, not justwhen you're open. Does anyone remember the Plandemic? Anyway, I think I'm getting a point across.

The spots are large. We probably could have set up 5 tents and still had room. The lake side lots are a smaller but still larger than most. I didn't sleep tho because there was a party crew up most of the night keeping everyone in tents awake..... so the actual point of being here from one night was a fail.... I got small naps in between the loud laughter and roars.

Stayed here for the first time for the weekend…Friday night and Saturday might… what a LOVELY campground!!! Level sites, beautiful trees, water views… lots of green space, trails, bike paths, benches in common areas. The sites are extremely spacious (ours was anyway… we had number 18) we rode our bikes around for a bit, enjoyed the shade. The attendants at the booth were very helpful with our questions…. They have some reservable Sites and others that are first come first served… some are right on the water (lake) and some are set back… all are beautiful. Affordable too!! (Ours was $18 a night) there is another smaller portion of the campground that sits across the street from the lake that was nice too, but I would choose this side again if we get back this way.

I visit to see the Migrating Birds. American White Pelicans Bald Eagles Cormorants River Gulls The middle of February is when the Pelicans come thru. They are actually larger than the Bald Eagles. Both are thrilling to see!

This campground is very nice and clean. Some sites are blacktop but all have long drives, mostly level sites and not close to others.

Love Dam West. Want to thank the Corp maintenance, they saved the day for us. We unfortunately forgot to roll our awning in when leaving last Thursday. They helped us take it off our camper. Saved the day. Thanks so much. Always calm, relaxing and beautiful there. 😉😎

Clean campground, clean shower houses and air conditioned restrooms, stayed here with my husband and two children Sunday-Friday. We enjoyed the nearby bike trails that lead to the beach. The camp hosts were always very helpful. Laundry room at campground. Basketball court. We loved our stay at this campground. Close to wal mart in case you forget something at home. We will definitely be coming back.
