This was a great stay. I didn't mind the "parking lot" one bit. The beach is clean and beautiful. Carpenteria is a lovely little town with a great brewery - Third Window. The tar is flowing if you take a left and walk about 5 minutes. Super cool. As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe. I would return.

Location, location, location! Thats 💯 what this park is all about. Beaches are 👍. If you're able to get the few sites right up against the beach ⛱️, you're experience is heightened 1000%!!! If you're in a spot furthest away, you're going to be somewhat disappointed, but that's ok. If you have dogs, like we did. Fox tail galore, bring a RV mat or dog booties, because they will be picking up fox tails. No dogs allowed on the beach, but less than 20 minutes away, there are several dog friendly beaches. Kids on bikes, kids on scooters kids on skateboards, kids on anything with wheels. Just drive slow, and expect something on the next corner zipping by fast. Bathrooms/showers were clean; expect wait times during morning, early evening. Get to know your neighbors, especially if you're camping at any state ran campground. A simple, "hello" (This is a +). This goes along way!

This was my first time to Carp State Beach. It was 10 bucks for the day pass. Plenty of tables and Bbq’s. People are camping in tents and Rv’s. Real nice day. If you are thinking of going. Just go.

Every thing about this place is great. Right on the beach, with a dog friendly area just beyond the park. The exception was the very outdated bathrooms and showers. Glad one of the four had been updated. The others were kinda creepy. Also they had only one operational token machine that was at the ranger station, so make sure and obtain them before you set up camp. Views were unbeatable.

Great camping spot for the families. Next time, we are going to try to get a camp site very close to the beach. The trails and park near by are perfect for kids.

Got beach row in the San Miguel campsite. We were excited to have the beach view campsite but they replaced all the trees and ocean view with 3 foot tall bush along the whole beach row. When we purchased the spot both the website and Google Maps view showed a beautiful beach view with sparse trees. I don’t know if this was for conservation or what but now we know to double check next time. Only San Miguel had it so we were disappointed. I like bush but not like this.

Our favorite beach! We've been coming here for almost 20 years. We love camping here, but it is difficult to get reservations. They have bathrooms and showers so bring your quarters. It is a laidback, safe, clean beach. Sad to see some of the shops like Robataille's closing.

A great location close to the beach and walking distance to the city center. Some spots are very small, be Mindful when booking. We noticed that the rangers were approaching RV's not obeying to the quiet hours. Much appreciated. We did notice many dogs without a leash and dog poop at several places. This is against the park rules. Being more strict on this would have been appreciated by us.

This is a tent city. Families living in their tent or car with what looks like long term space. There is a loud train and loud children who cry all night dogs who bark in the campers and kids who sound like they are being hurt. I wanted to call police at least 3 times during our stay. We didnt make it to the beach they talk about because I was to nervous to get out of the van...look elsewhere!! Like another state...

We used the RV park and it was fine. The spaces are tight and on asphalt. Our spot was too far away from the power to plug in without an extension chord. A great location and view. Remember to bring rubbing alcohol for the oil that you'll get on your feet and shoes.

Beautiful state beach located within walking distance of downtown Carpinteria, great restaurants and low key beach town vibe. Day use parking fee $10, respectable restrooms, outside showers. Lovely dune boardwalk.

Not bad for being in the middle of town, had a decent number of camping spots, I was with a school of fourth graders, and being located right next to the beach the kids got to learn about the water cycle, the tar that bubbles up , the coastal wildlife all in one trip. The rangers were all polite and we really appreciated all that helped out with this trip!

I have been camping here since forever. The camp sites are nice but you need to make reservations well in advance. The ride pools are amazing at low tide. Some good easy beach diving if you know where to go in at. The showers are pay for hot water.

We come here every year and love it! Great dog beach at the far end and an Albertsons and CVS close by. Unfortunately EVERY year Susan is so negative and unpleasant. She gave no solutions to our questions. The volunteers are way more helpful. And very happy. Thanks Craig you rock .

Nice campground which accommodates all shapes and sized rigs. If you don't go for the hookups and/or are self contained, the rates are not too bad. Shaped like a long parking lot, next to the beach with ample spots for car and rig. Hot showers for a minimum surplus, clean spots, dump station. Better call to see if there are vacancies, because the website is useless and reserve on line doesn't give the real low down on what's available.
