Had a small family gathering, and we really enjoyed the area. We will go back for sure. The river was an added bonus for those in the group that went fishing.

"I'm going to call the sheriff and have you banned forever!" is how the camp host (aka pit toilet cleaner) greeted us the second morning during our stay 15-17 Aug. We all had a laugh, knowing he never send a deputy out here for a e-collared dog at an isolated group site. We know that miserable old man was really trying to ruin our weekend, he was aggressively hostile from the very moment he paused his toilet cleaning duties to check us in, but we all really loved the abuse. He was the butt of our jokes the entire weekend and the only law enforcement that showed up were drunk within the hour. The best part was he kept calling the camp site a National Park, then starting calling it a state park, all while the giant sign behind him said "National Forest", hilarious! 5 stars! On a sad note though, the camp host did brag extensively about ruining someone's wedding early in the month and how he sabotaged their venue. Most would find his behavior hostile, aggressive, abusive, and completely unwarranted. We asked what his name was, but he refused to give it to us saying we weren't entitled to that info, or the info of his manager, or his government leads info. He doesn't know the laws of the place he works, so he just makes things up. Just remember he's a contractor on a power trip, but I would be too if I was stuck cleaning toilets for my retirement. We really felt bad for his partner, she looked so sick of his BS. I hope she doesn't get stuck with him next time.

Pretty nice forest service site with friendly staff. No hookups and $25 - FYI there are many other campgrounds nearby that cost quite a bit less although they are smaller. There is a trailhead on site.

A favorite campground situated on a hillside, note for tent campers. Notable activities are hiking down to the river or up the creek, fishing, incredible variety of birds and flowers. Have had snow on Memorial and Labor Day weekends.
