Castaic Lake
Castaic Lake is a reservoir located in the Sierra Pelona Mountains of northern Los Angeles County, California. It is the westernmost of the Santa Clara River Valley's four major reservoirs. The lake is formed by Castaic Dam, which impounds Castaic Creek, a tributary of the Santa Clara River. The lake is located about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of downtown Los Angeles, and is part of the California State Water Project. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, camping, and other recreational activities. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish species, including largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and trout. The lake also offers a variety of amenities, including a marina, boat launch, campground, and picnic areas.
