Castle Rock (Juneau County Park) offers a quintessentially scenic escape on the western shores of Castle Rock Lake. Managed by Juneau County, this park provides a rustic yet well-maintained environment that captures the natural beauty of Central Wisconsin. It is a destination where the sound of lapping water and the smell of pine needles define the experience, making it a favorite for those seeking a traditional camping atmosphere without the commercial noise of larger resorts.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Mauston, WI, the park sits along the fourth-largest inland lake in the state. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense woodlands and vast expanses of water that offer stunning sunset views. The proximity to the Wisconsin River ensures a diverse ecosystem, while the local terrain is mostly flat, providing easy access for RVs of various sizes to navigate the wooded loops and shoreline roads.

A very clean and well maintained park. The camper lots are big, level also well maintained. The showers are very nice. Its quarter operated 2.5 minutes per quarter. Three quarters was typically used for our group of 8.

This is a nice campground to stay at, sites on A side were all just redone with the gravel pads but still has good amount of green space. The setup is layed out well & they have 2 new outhouse buildings in addition to new shower/restroom building. There is a nice beach area, not a lot of picnic tables right by the beach but some & there are a bunch by the shelter that if not rented out can be used.

Changed my rating. I know they had to update but all those beautiful trees gone which means less wildlife not as much shade and I loved having a little privacy from my neighbor. Now it's just site after site on A. Yay progress boo on making my favorite place not as great. Nice and quiet during the week. Beautiful views. Lake was a great temperature for swimming! I love coming here. I have been coming here for over 40 years and this will always be my favorite vacation spot.

Beautiful place for families and friends. Amazing beach and lake. Kids loved to play in the sand. Campsite clean and nice. The only thing it was kind of too far from the showers (7-8 minutes walk one way)

May 2024 -- fell in love with the park having a pair of waterside camp sites for three nights. Peaceful and enjoyable. Disc golf is coming along compared to last year. Section A also close to complete, and looks amazing with tons of powered sites and new shower house! May 2023 -- Great park! Section A closed this year for construction following a well deserved state grant. Section B is mostly seasonal and families, great shower building. Section C was considerably quieter and had some prime tree-lined and shoreline spots albeit farthest from plumbing. Fun to play disc golf too. -1 star as we accidentally double-booked a pair of sites for next year, and they still charged us the $10 PER SITE cancel fee even though we cancelled the next business day. 😟
