Beautiful and well maintained ground and campsites. Cell phone service is very spotty. Workers do come and check out your campsite while you are there or not, so don’t expect full privacy. The bathrooms were kept clean. There is only one shower area for the entire campground. When we were there women’s shower's were out of order, so they had set up a trailer outside. A few issues with that: 1) it’s not specifically for women only, which holds up the line even more 2) the water was ice cold at all times 3) there is no light in the shower.

Kenneth L Wilson State Park is a very nice NY State Park located in Ulster County. The park is surrounded by gorgeous views of the Catskills Mountains. Camping, paddling, hiking, and fishing are all different activities offered by the park. Altogether there are 76 different campsites here. Most of them are spacious and secluded in the woods. All of the campsites have access to showers and bathrooms. Cell service in the park is limited. Check the park’s website to make reservations here. For day use facilities there are a few short hiking trails here. The best trail goes along the shore of the lake in the campground. Kayaks can be rented here. You can fish and there are fishing piers located along the lake . Chain pickerel, bass, are the major species in the pond. Pavilions that can be rented for large group gatherings. The recreational opportunities here are nice, however there are not as many of them as other NY State campgrounds have. From this campground there is easy access to many other Catskill attractions. Altogether, the park is a good escape and offers nice scenery.

Had a great time bringing a group of 8 friends + 1 dog here. We booked 2 adjacent campsites and stayed for 3 nights in all. Half the group camps often and the other half not as much. This was a great place to ease into camping due to the amazing facilities. The bathrooms were clean (for my campground standards). There's an industrial dish washing station with 2 sinks, as well as hot showers down the road. Clear markings and paved roads. The campsite itself was perfect. Fire pit / grill + picnic table. Note the fire pit grill has really wide spacing, so don't expect to be able to grill directly on it - you need a wire rack or something to put on top. Sites are close enough together that you'll see your neighbors, but everyone was friendly and considerate. They don't sell firewood, but there is a Hannaford rather close by to stock up. We didn't have any issues with critters, but are also good about cleaning up food items at the end of the night and storing in cars. The park rangers were all friendly and polite, though there are a few that are much stricter with enforcing rules than others, so beware. 2 of our friends were asked to move their tent due to having set up a little bit off the compacted area. I get it, but a bit lame since it was still in the designated area and just barely off. Most of the rangers didn't have an issue with it, but the guy on the 2nd day made us move it over maybe 3-4 feet. Kayaks and canoes available for rent $15-20, but apparently you can reserve these in advance, so they were all reserved already when we showed up to try to rent one. Just a heads up to reserve this when you first check in at the booth if you can. The last odd thing was that dogs aren't allowed at all in the day use area. The area is huge and has lots of grills, so we brought stuff out for a lunch BBQ only to find out that dogs aren't allowed at all. Not sure the reasoning for this rule since dogs are allowed on leash everywhere else in the campgrounds. The place was also completely empty so we weren't bothering anyone else but one of the stricter rangers came to enforce the rules. So we packed everything back up and did the BBQ at our campsite instead. Kinda lame, but ok. My guess is there was probably some incident in the past, but I hope they will reconsider this rule as it is a gorgeous area. Overall had a great time and would definitely come back for another visit. It's a really great spot with nice amenities, and a perfect way to introduce friends and family to the camping experience.

Really peaceful. I thought the lack of cell reception would be a real burden, but it was nice for a night I do wish there was ONE spot on grounds that had it though because I had to drive up road 5 min to get reception enough to change my reservation. Camp staff members were incredibly involved, even going from one campsite to the other and interacting, sitting and watching cars entering, and checking in with campers. I appreciated all of this! It made me feel so safe! There a large dog park-and signs reminding dog parents that dogs must be leashed at all times anywhere else-but none of the dogs I saw were leashed. I do wish people would obey the sign. I love walking and roaming, but a dog being friendly dislocated my hip last year, so I have to stay away (I have a medical condition that makes me fragile), and I get scared when dogs are off leash. At the showers, there was an off-leash husky just sitting out front. I simply didn’t shower, but that’s not fair to me. Leash your dogs in public places (and a campground is a public place). Other than that, I found the camp to be perfectly peaceful. Best night if sleep I’ve had in months!

Spacious and quiet with good amenities such as clean toilets, a recycling station, and a playground for kids. Didn't use these, but noticed boats that may be for rental and a dog park.

Loved this campground so much! Very well maintained, exceptional bathrooms/showers, and friendly staff. No cell service but that’s not a bad thing to not have for a few days. Great location, beautiful scenery, and easy drive to enjoy some great hikes in the Catskills!!! Highly recommend! This campground is mostly geared towards tent camping. We did stay here in our RV but had to run the generator because there weren’t hook ups. They did have a dump station that we used on our way out and we were able to hookup a hose for water.

The park is well kept, the restrooms are nice and clean. The campsites are shaded, some very close to one another and others with a little more space and privacy. The playground is very nice for children and the backdrop is really beautiful, open space surrounded by tall mountains. The park doesn't have a swimming area but you can bring your canoe or kayak. A nature trail.
