Cedar Creek Campground & Marina
Overview
Cedar Creek Campground & Marina offers a peaceful retreat on the shores of the Core Sound in Sealevel, North Carolina. This destination combines traditional camping with extensive marina services, making it a favorite for those who love the water. Unlike the high-energy resorts found further north on the Outer Banks, this park focuses on a slower pace of life, where the sound of the wind through the salt marsh and the gentle lap of the water takes center stage. It serves as a true gateway to the coastal wilderness of the Crystal Coast.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the historic Down East region of Carteret County, the park is surrounded by scenic coastal marshes and the vast, shimmering waters of the Core Sound. This remote location ensures minimal traffic noise and incredibly dark night skies perfect for stargazing from your campsite. Visitors will find themselves immersed in a traditional maritime landscape, characterized by small fishing villages and incredible views of the Cedar Island Wildlife Refuge, which sits just across the local waters.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for long-term stays or quick weekend getaways, offering spacious sites with full hookups and level pads. Water lovers benefit significantly from the on-site boat ramp and the protected deep-water marina, which provides easy access for serious anglers and recreational boaters alike. Other essential facilities include a clean bathhouse, a seasonal swimming pool for cooling off on summer afternoons, and a well-stocked general store where campers can pick up fresh bait, ice, and various camping supplies.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing is the primary draw here, with the sound and nearby inlets offering excellent opportunities for catching drum, trout, and flounder. A short drive leads to the Cedar Island Ferry, the essential gateway to Ocracoke Island and the rest of the Outer Banks. For a day of inland exploration, travelers can visit the historic docks of Beaufort or take a ferry trip out to the remote Cape Lookout National Seashore to view the iconic lighthouse and the famous wild horses roaming the dunes.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is ideal for anglers and boaters who want direct water access and a private slip without the crowds of larger coastal cities. It strongly appeals to retirees and families looking for a quiet, nature-focused experience away from loud commercial tourist traps. If you value a truly authentic coastal atmosphere and a community of fellow outdoor enthusiasts, this quiet Sealevel gem provides the perfect, low-stress basecamp for your North Carolina RV adventure.

Parked our camper here for several months. The condition of everything at the camp site is deteriorating, and nothing has been done to fix any of it. The bath houses have only two functioning toilets and showers in the women's room, and have been that way since the beginning of the year. There have been no repairs or upgrades. Hills of dirt are mounded all over, but nothing has been done with them to level camping spots. The pool is not cared for, not that it matters, because the pool closed at the end of August... Which sucks when you're at the outer banks because we could be using the pool even now! What we were asked to pay changed each month, probably because we paid cash. We never got receipts, and others (who paid via card), were reportedly paying less... I'm sad, this place could be so amazing with a little love and TLC... There's been no maintenance or cleaning of any sorts for the past six months at least.

Everyone at the campground was welcoming and went out of their way to help. Our RV site was spacious, private, and perfectly set up for a relaxing stay. The location couldn’t be better—just steps from miles of unspoiled beaches, breathtaking sunsets, and some of the best fishing on the coast. September was especially exciting, with Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi all in season and running strong. The boat launch was key.

Nice campground in isolated spot with easy ocean access to outer banks and great views! Entrance needs paved. Pool could be updated.

This lil campground needs repair and lots of TLC. Skip, the manager is very accommodating but there is only so much he has to work with. The owner should invest some $$ into the property. There is a pool on site. Great for fishermen.

We used Cedar Creek Campground as a staging ground for our 5-day sailboat adventure in the Sound. Holly was so kind and set us up with advice and directions and welcomed all of us, our trailers, and our gear to this beautiful campground. Luigi even helped us launch and retrieve our boats! The showers and boat wash facility enabled us to have a great experience and enjoy the gorgeous and wild Outer Banks!
