Cedar Ridge Park Campground

Overview

Cedar Ridge Park Campground, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offers a serene lakeside escape on the shores of Belton Lake. This park is defined by its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite for those who prefer a scenic outdoor environment over the paved rows of a commercial resort. The grounds are well-maintained, providing a classic camping experience where the focus remains on the surrounding woodlands and the expansive water views.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Temple, Texas, the park sits on the eastern side of Belton Lake. The location provides a quiet woodland setting that feels far removed from urban noise, yet it remains conveniently accessible from major local thoroughfares. The landscape is characterized by limestone bluffs and dense foliage, offering a quintessential Central Texas terrain that provides plenty of shade for campers who enjoy the tranquility of a park nestled directly against a massive freshwater reservoir.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is thoughtfully designed to accommodate various camping styles. Guests will find water and electric hookups available at many sites, which simplifies the experience for those staying in travel trailers or motorhomes. Essential facilities such as modern restrooms and hot showers are maintained throughout the park. Visitors also have access to dedicated boat ramps and fishing areas, ensuring that those who enjoy spending time on the water have everything they need for a successful day of lake recreation.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the immediate camping area, the Temple region offers plenty to explore. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the numerous hiking trails that wind through the park, providing great opportunities for bird watching and nature photography. Those interested in local history or culture can take a short drive into Temple to visit regional museums and local eateries. The proximity to Belton Lake also means that water sports, including kayaking and swimming, are the primary activities for many summer visitors.

Super frustrating experience. Park management allowed this family to park their boat at one of the only docks overnight and for hours at a time for the entire weekend. It made it extremely difficult for our family to load and unload. They were also fishing off the ramp and in the water making it very unsafe to use. This was reported and nothing done. Super disappointed in people and the experience.

My wife and I have camped at this COE campground several times. We have always enjoyed the plentiful wildlife and beautiful lake views. The RV sites have always been clean and well maintained.

This is our go-to park for camping and fishing. The current volunteer staff is SO friendly and go above and beyond to make each site perfect for the next family. They clean up each spot, clear out any debris from the fire pit and burn off the BBQ after check-out. They recognize my family now (we might have a camping problem) and always stop to chat when they drive by. They really care about your experience and it’s so great to see! This boat ramp is my favorite on Belton (as the official boat trailer parker) and there’s a good amount of parking.

It is always clean and there is an entrance fee, which helps keep some of the would be problems at bay. Always quite a few families here having a great time.

A great camping location on lake Belton with water+electric sites and dump stations. A nice boating/kayaking/fishing area on the inlet. Two boat launches. The camping sites are clean, level and well spaced, some with good shade. Basic bathhouses available.
