Centennial Reunion Square (Village Park)

Overview

Centennial Reunion Square, often known locally as Village Park, offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of Stirling, Alberta. This municipal campground provides a unique opportunity to stay within one of Canada's few National Historic Sites located in a residential setting. The park is characterized by its wide-open spaces and a deep sense of community history, making it a quiet alternative to busier commercial resorts. It serves as a comfortable, simple home base for travelers looking to explore the unique agricultural heritage of the Southern Alberta region.

Location & Surroundings

Located just twenty minutes southeast of Lethbridge, the park sits within a village famous for its large town blocks and historic pioneer architecture. The surroundings are primarily pastoral, with vast prairie landscapes and quiet residential streets that encourage slow evening walks under the big Alberta sky. Being situated in a designated historic site means the atmosphere is remarkably well-preserved, offering travelers a glimpse into early 20th-century settlement patterns while staying amidst mature trees and manicured greenery.

Amenities & Park Features

The park provides essential services for RV travelers, including sites equipped with 30-amp power hookups and access to potable water. Guests can enjoy the communal aspects of the park, such as well-maintained picnic areas and a playground that is perfect for families traveling with children. While the setting is simple and rustic, it includes recreational facilities like tennis courts and a baseball diamond nearby. A municipal sani-dump station is conveniently located within the village, ensuring that visitors have the necessary utility access for a comfortable stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Visitors should not miss the opportunity to tour the village, which functions as an outdoor museum of early irrigation and settlement history. The park's central location makes it easy to drive into Lethbridge to visit the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden or the Galt Museum. For those seeking natural wonders, the ancient rock art and hoodoos of Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park are accessible for a scenic day trip. Within the village itself, the quiet streets are ideal for cycling or visiting local artisanal shops and historic landmarks.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for travelers who prefer a quiet, community-focused atmosphere over high-traffic commercial RV parks. It is best suited for those seeking a budget-friendly stopover or history enthusiasts interested in exploring Alberta's unique cultural landscape. Families will appreciate the open green spaces and safe environment for children to play, while solo travelers and retirees often value the peace and security of this small-town setting. It is a perfect fit for independent RVers who enjoy a slower, more authentic pace of travel.

We rented the reunion square for a family reunion on a Saturday. It was perfect for our family. There are playground toys, baseball diamond, basketball and a pool(at an additional cost). We also enjoyed the fire pit for s’mores. The reunion center has a a full kitchen, BBQ grill and a griddle for breakfast. So there were plenty of options for food prep. It also had plenty of collapsible picnic tables that we used for games and food. We have had reunions here many times in the past and look forward to using it again in the future.

Great space for family reunions and fun summer events! Often used to host community events such as Stirling Settler Days usually held the third week of July, this outdoor space lends itself to such large gatherings, and includes a kitchen and washroom, and also has a playground for children.
