Charles A. Lindbergh

Overview

Charles A. Lindbergh State Park offers a serene retreat steeped in history along the banks of the Mississippi River. Named after the famous aviator, this park provides a blend of lush woodland scenery and well-maintained facilities. It serves as a quiet refuge for travelers looking to connect with Minnesota's natural beauty while exploring local historical landmarks. The wooded landscape creates a private atmosphere that many RVers find refreshing for an extended stay or a weekend getaway.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the heart of Little Falls, Minnesota, the park sits atop a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The surrounding area is characterized by dense hardwoods and prairie restoration plots. Because it is located just south of the city center, guests enjoy easy access to local services while feeling completely immersed in nature. The scenic river views provide a perfect backdrop for evening strolls or morning coffee by the water's edge.

Amenities & Park Features

The park accommodates RVers with electric hookups available at many of its campsites. Facilities include seasonal flush toilets and showers, ensuring a comfortable stay for those in various types of rigs. For recreation, travelers can utilize over seven miles of hiking trails and a spacious picnic shelter built by the Works Progress Administration. A modern playground is also available, making it a functional and family-friendly choice for those traveling with children.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw is the Charles Lindbergh House and Museum, located directly across the street, where visitors can learn about the aviator's childhood and legacy. Guests can also enjoy fishing or canoeing on the river. Nearby Little Falls features the Pine Grove Zoo and the Minnesota Military Museum at Camp Ripley. These attractions offer a rich cultural layer to any camping trip in the central Minnesota region.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for history buffs and families seeking a quiet, educational getaway. It appeals to RVers who prefer smaller, state-managed parks over large commercial resorts. This is a nice cozy state park with plenty of trail options. The camping sites are very colorful during the fall season. Much recommended.

Had a great time. Quiet little park. Has a lending library at the park entrance! Bring books to swap!!!!!! Heard owls while camping, and saw a family of river otters munching reeds! SUPER CLEAN FACILITIES! You can tell the people that work here love their park!

A beautiful historic state park. We camped for a couple nights with kids. The park ranger was so friendly and everything was clean and beautiful. There are a few nice trails with bridges, a campground for tents and rvs, 2 creekside camp sites for canoeing stopover, canoe and kayak rentals, a picnic and small playground area for day use. It was nice and quiet at night. There are nice clean restrooms. Also, showers for campers. We enjoyed our camping trip.

The Ranger was very awesome! Well maintained, and we absolutely will stay there again. Also, kind of odd, the drinking water was really cold and refreshing.

This is a hidden gem just outside St. Cloud. Woods, prairie, river. Nice trails. Very enjoyable.
