Charleston KOA Holiday

Attractions abound in lovely Charleston with horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping along the historic harbor.

You'll know this campground is special the minute you drive through the entrance. Azaleas, oaks and loblolly pines give a signature touch to its Lowcountry charm. Nearby, the historic Magnolia Plantation and Middleton Place feature beautiful gardens. Beat the summer heat at Whirlin' Waters Adventure Waterpark (located within North Charleston Wannamaker County Park). Attractions abound in lovely Charleston, where horse-drawn carriages clip-clop along the historic harbor. Tour Fort Sumter National Monument, where the Civil War began, and the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. Watch the skies for military/commercial planes - you might spot a Boeing 747 Dreamlifter. Bring a group - the campground has a great recreation building with a full kitchen and meeting facilities. An exciting addition is the family lodge - a fun home-away-from-home that sleeps up to eight people. Pool: March 15 - October 15. Max pull thru: 70 feet. Your host: Roger Thorpe.

I stayed at this campground for 4 nights. It is clean and well layed out. It has a great nature trail to take the doggos for a walk in the shade. The small lake is very pretty. The laundry room was kept very clean and the staff were all very friendly. There are many shaded camp spots, but if you reserve online it might be best to call them and ensure you get a shady spot. The pool was active and looked clean and well cared for. This a a very nice KOA

This establishment is primarily an RV campground, not a hotel, though there are a few small cabins that I did not have the opportunity to inspect. The RV lots are somewhat narrow, but they are well-maintained. The restrooms, while appearing a bit dated, are clean and fully functional. Due to its location, there can be a noticeable amount of road noise. Additionally, the campground is situated within the flight path of Charleston Airport, resulting in frequent airplane overhead. We opted for a deluxe lot, which included patio furniture, a grill, a fireplace, and a concrete patio. I believe this option offers good value, particularly for stays longer than one night.

We were well greeted on the afternoon we arrived. Site was level. However extremely close to both of our neighbor camp sites...tight to maneuver.. Campground was very clean. Campground groundskeeper/utility/maintenance guys were friendly and did a nice job maintaining the grounds. Game room was really nice. Downside is that it is on a highway that is extremely busy and sirens seem to be going constantly. A lot of sirens and airplanes flying low overhead. They did not offer a pass or vehicle tag to display, which was odd because anyone could go in or out. Also they were pretty lenient about the fire pits. No fire rings, however they would bring you a fire ring if you wanted one.

This is the place to camp in the Charleston area! The staff were so helpful and friendly especially the maintenance people. I so appreciate all you did for us! The campground is well taken care of. We had the perfect location near the recreation hall that had ac with all kinds of activities the kids really enjoyed. The pool was beautiful and the water temp was perfect. Most sites are spacious with newer picnic tables, plenty of shade from the trees and a good size fire pit. We had to delay our trip and they changed our reservation no problem. Perfect location with various grocery stores and restaurants within 10 minutes. Thank you for the awesome accommodations while we were visiting family so much better than a hotel!

We did a short stay (Monday- Thursday). We splurged for the patio site. It was a cute site with all we would need. Firewood was decent (not drift wood). The pool was nice (very warm since it was a 100 degrees outside), loved it had a deep end! Would stay again. Still a bit pricey, but better than others we looked at with similar amenities. We stayed to enjoy the Charleston area and it worked out well for us. (Hubby, me our 15 yr old).
