Chattahoochee-Oconee/The Pocket
The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest is a vast expanse of public land located in the northern part of Georgia. It is comprised of two national forests, the Chattahoochee and the Oconee, and covers over 867,000 acres of land. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, including black bears, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and bald eagles. It also contains numerous recreational opportunities, such as camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, and biking. The Pocket-LaFayette area of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest is located in the northwest corner of the forest and is home to a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking in the area. There are also several trails for mountain biking and horseback riding. The Pocket-LaFayette area is also home to several historic sites, including the Pocket-LaFayette Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
