Beautiful spot if you get in the right site. Water was 450 feet from our spot (not easy but possible if you no other campers and plan ahead) Bath house was a little scary, it was lacking in maintenance and housekeeping.

We were here for a family reunion, we reserved 8 camping sites. We had 5 Campers and several tents for about 40 people. When we arrived we realized that although the sites did have electricity, they did not have water available. We were in a Loop B. There was not a open bathroom or shower house easily accessible to us. Our loop could not be accessed through the rest of the park, it had its own entrance and any roads connecting it to the park were blocked by closed gates. Most of the campsites are not even close to the water, so be prepared to pull your boat out of the water daily or more often since you can't see the water from the majority of the sites. Overall it was just an OK place to camp.

Best place close by with sandy swimming area. Not much parking at swimming area. There is only a couple spots of shade. The RV camp grounds usually stay full nearly year round. Free life vests. $5 daily use, $40 year pass.

Absolutely loved this campground! Great place for children to ride bikes, play, and swim! (Watch out for poison ivy though!) Campsites were well spread out with lots of shade. Clean bathrooms with hot showers. Definitely on our list of favorites!

Very impressed with this campground. I’ve been camping since I was a child and this is possibly my favorite spot I’ve ever been to. It’s only around a five minute drive from town, so any unplanned trips to get something doesn’t become a huge ordeal. The entire time we were there we saw zero pieces of trash laying around. The site is huge with a few different camping experiences depending on what you’re looking for. We picked a spot in the pines and it was stunningly pretty. On the opposite side of the pines, is the lake. Which is large and offers pretty views. Worth walking over to at the very least. But very tempting to jump in a canoe for the day once you see it. The number one best thing is the privacy. Each site is spread apart the most I’ve ever seen at a campsite. It allows for a very relaxing and private experience. Along with that, when you go onto the official recreational website, there’s a photo of every single spot you can check out before booking. Huge fan and can’t wait to be back.

They moved the swimming area and made the old area a place to park vehicles with boat trailers. I have been here more than a dozen times this year because we live in Clinton and have yet to see but two vehicles with a boat trailer parked there. People have continued to swim in this area because there is plenty of parking. It is easy to get to the water. The water is cleaner and the bottom is sandy and easy to walk on. The new area has horrible parking. There are two big piles of sand and the only way to get to beach area is to walk around the sand through the grass and rocks or climb over the sand piles. Between the water and beach there are places with tree stumps sticking up(dangerous for small children) and there are lots of rocks and stumps on bottom. I will say the campgrounds and restrooms are great. They are clean and well maintained. The water in the Choctaw area is the best. And swimming is awesome in the old swimming area. Right now there are over 40 people enjoying the old area and from where I sit there maybe about 3 people over at the new area.

Fun but swimming area has been flooded the last two times we went . It cost $5 per car to even go in to the park.
