Clackamette RV Park

Overview

Clackamette RV Park offers a unique riverfront experience within the urban landscape of Oregon City. Managed by the city, this park sits at the scenic confluence of the Clackamas and Willamette Rivers. It is a straightforward, paved camping area that prioritizes access to the water and local conveniences. Travelers often choose this spot for its simplicity and the soothing sounds of the nearby currents, making it a reliable choice for a Pacific Northwest stopover.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated at the northern tip of Oregon City, providing a front-row seat to the region's natural beauty. The surroundings are characterized by wide river views and easy access to walking paths that line the banks. Because it is located near major transit routes and a popular shopping center, the environment is active and convenient rather than isolated. It serves as a gateway to the historic Willamette Valley while remaining close to the Portland metropolitan area.

Amenities & Park Features

This park features 38 paved sites equipped with water and 30-amp electricity. While there are no sewer hookups at the individual sites, a sanitary dump station is conveniently located within the park for guest use. Key features include:

  • Paved pads for easy leveling
  • Dedicated picnic tables at each site
  • On-site horseshoe pits for recreation
  • Public restroom facilities nearby

The layout is open, which is excellent for maneuvering and provides clear riverfront views from most vantage points throughout the property.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The park’s location is a dream for history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts. You are minutes away from the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, where the rich history of the region comes to life. Popular activities in the immediate area include:

  • Fishing and kayaking on the Willamette
  • Exploring the McLoughlin Promenade
  • Visiting the historic Oregon City Municipal Elevator
  • Viewing the powerful Willamette Falls

For a different perspective, the shopping and dining options of Oregon City are just a short drive or bike ride away from your campsite.

Who This Park Is Best For

Clackamette RV Park is ideal for active travelers and boaters who want immediate access to the river. It appeals to those who value proximity to city services over a secluded wilderness experience. If you are a fan of local history or need a convenient base while exploring the Portland area, this park provides the essentials. It is best suited for those who appreciate a no-frills, riverfront setting where natural scenery and urban accessibility meet.

I love this part so much I even live by a river and I go all the way to Oregon City to back my car up by the RV in the gravel and just watch the water and write and listen to music. It's so chill and it brings me so much opportunity to ground myself. I'm glad they're not charging to get in I mean it's like a miracle. I always look for rocks that helps me around myself and calm down when I'm having a bad day Thanks mother Earth LOL

It’s worth noting that this RV park DOES NOT have any bathrooms and showers; the only available restrooms are a public one in the nearby city park or at a McDonalds up the road, both being crowded with homeless individuals and rowdy visitors. The RV spots only offer electric and water hookups, while the dump station is located outside the park in the city park area. We noticed a significant presence of homeless individuals and young skater kids, who were quite vocal and could be disruptive to others. Additionally, there’s no security at the RV park, allowing random individuals to freely pass through on their way to the river, city park or just roam around scouting the area. We also noticed several homeless digging through the dumpsters at the park during the day and at night. While the park boasts a pleasant location near the city park, skate park, and river with nice views, the absence of amenities like functional bathrooms and showers combined with the nightly rate of $50 makes it hard to recommend. Ultimately, I feel it is not worth the cost given these drawbacks.

Very family friendly place. Nice and quiet after hours. There are no sewer hookups, but their is a dump station right outside the gate. If you or your significant other happened to works after 10pm till tam you will need to park outside the gate but my husband and I have had no issues of break-ins to our vehicles any time we stay here. Great family fun place to visit.

Love that this park has walking trails that goes all around the whole park. Lots of low waters on Clackamas river side, so that your little people can play n enjoy also. Only downfall about this park is not adequate parking. Had a great time tho.
