Clear Creek
Overview
Clear Creek State Park offers a peaceful retreat into the dense forests of Western Pennsylvania. Spread across nearly 2,000 acres, this park is defined by its deep connection to the Clarion River and the surrounding Kittanning State Forest. RVers will find a classic state park atmosphere where the sounds of the water and wind through the hemlocks take center stage. The park's history as a former lumbering site adds a layer of heritage to every hike and campsite. It serves as a quieter alternative to some of the busier regional destinations, making it a favorite for those seeking a traditional camping experience in a preserved natural setting.
Location & Surroundings
Situatied in Sigel, PA, the park is nestled within a scenic valley carved by Clear Creek and the Clarion River. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rugged hillsides and a lush canopy cover that provides ample shade for most campsites. Its proximity to the National Wild and Scenic River corridor ensures that visitors are never far from pristine water views and diverse wildlife sightings. The remote nature of the location offers a true escape from urban noise and light pollution, providing campers with incredibly dark skies for stargazing right from their RV pads.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features sites that accommodate RVs with electric hookups up to 50 amps. While the park maintains a rustic vibe, essential facilities like a sanitary dump station and modern restrooms with showers are available for guest use. The sites are generally level and well-maintained, providing a comfortable setup for various trailer sizes. Travelers can enjoy a guarded swimming beach during the summer months and several picnic pavilions scattered throughout the park’s day-use areas. Many of the RV sites are tucked into the woods, offering a sense of privacy that is hard to find in private parks.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the park’s extensive trail system, including the popular Sawmill Trail, which highlights the area's geological and industrial history. The Clarion River is a major draw for kayaking and tubing, with local outfitters providing easy access to the water. Just a short drive away is the famous Cook Forest State Park, known for its Ancient Forest and Cathedral Forest of towering pines. Fishing for trout in Clear Creek or smallmouth bass in the river remains a top activity for many visitors throughout the spring and summer seasons.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for RVers who prioritize nature and tranquility over resort-style luxuries like cable or high-speed Wi-Fi. It is perfectly suited for families who enjoy active outdoor recreation and those who want a basecamp for exploring the Pennsylvania Wilds. If you are looking for a place where you can disconnect and immerse yourself in a forest environment with direct river access, Clear Creek provides the perfect setting for a quiet, rejuvenating getaway. It is especially rewarding for those who appreciate the simple pleasure of a campfire under a thick forest canopy.

What a beautiful park. The creek was so beautiful, along with all the colorful trees. I love all the old bridges, the wood needs replaced though. But still sturdy and strong enough to walk on. Trees are marked, with trail signs here and there, so we didn't get lost. The trail along the creek was mild, the phylis (don't remember how to spell it) run loop trail had a short version that was very rocky and rooty. Hopefully we can come back next time and do more trailing.

WE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR VISIT HERE!!!! And, it’s wheelchair friendly! We spent a day here and barbecued at the picnic area. (Bring your own table cloth because the picnic tables are older and well used), the creek runs right next to it and there are restrooms very close. Nice parking lot with plenty of space. Dogs are ok here but not on the beach/swimming area). The creek/swimming side was beautiful and has a nice roped off area for swimming that is well marked for depth. Clean beach and the water is cool and clear. Bathrooms nearby and walking trails. There are 2 handicapped spaces near the beach and more parking just across the small road. I’m excited to rent a cabin or tent site and stay here with my family and grandkids!!

Clear Creek State park has been my family's "happy place" for camping, relaxation, and fishing for many years.

A beautiful park with waterfront camping options and fantastic hikes. There are spots for fishing and picnicking, all with beautiful views of water and forests. There are so many options of short and sweet easy hikes or more challenging and longer ones, and you can put several together for a fun variety. Several hikes have very little obvious trail to them and are identifiable by the yellow marks on trees, which I really love because I felt enveloped by the forest.
