Clearwater / Wells Gray KOA Journey

We stayed one night in a cabin (#19) with an ensuite bathroom that clearly had septic system issues. To mask the sewer smell there was a plugin "fragrance" diffuser that was as sickening as the odour it was trying to cover up. And no fan that might have reduced the smell, just a small opening window. In addition, the facilities are old and shabby (and no doubt hard to keep clean), well past their best before date. Lovely grounds if you're in an RV though!

Spent a week there with our family of 4 due to a family emergency. They were so accommodating as we had take it two days at a time and were able to stay in the same room our entire week. Room was clean, beds were comfortable and the grounds were clean. We did not use any of the services or features available as we spent most of our time at the hospital. Would recommend this location to others and if we are ever in the area again, we will book at the Clearwater Resort.

Clearwater Valley Resort has a great location, close to restaurants, stores, and Wells Gray Park, making it very convenient for travelers. However, the room service was disappointing and not up to the mark. The rooms felt a bit dated and could be cleaner. Staff seemed slow to respond to requests. For the price, the amenities felt basic. It’s a good option only if you value location over comfort.

I stayed in the large two bed room. The room was out dated and needed work. Towels were hard and scratchy, some had stains. Bed and bedding were old and uncomfortable. No soap or toiletries in bathroom. The tub was clogged when I took a shower and filled up halfway. The pool was green and I didn’t feel comfortable going in after seeing the state of the room. The mini golf course was fun, but definitely needed some maintenance and love. We went down for some food. We ordered steak bites and they were so disgusting. We couldn’t even chew them. The kids got chicken Alfredo and they couldn’t even eat it because it didn’t taste good, and they pretty much eat any pasta. My beef dip was overly greasy and the meat was not fresh. I didn’t say anything to the server as she was very busy and the only one working in the restaurant. No refills or asking how food was because of the lack of staffing in the restaurant. Beautiful site and location but I won’t be going again.

These guys left the KOA a few years ago, and it has never been better! We stay in our trailer here every year on the way out to the coast for the last 5 years. The camp ground is fun to walk. The pond is so peaceful. The pool is perfect for a family swim at the end of a long day of swimming. The RV and tent sites are beautiful. Some are close together, but most of them are well treed. There is a garbage can and recycling can everywhere! No excuses to litter. The bathrooms are dated, but are getting upgrades (and considering the amazing work that has gone into this place in the last year, I am excited to see the changes). The staff has always been pretty great, super friendly, great customer service. But... the big draw (which I always thought was the pool), is the restaurant. Both boys approved. We do takeout, to bring it to our site, the restaurant looks very relaxing and clean, but dang. It is good food. Every time.

I was expecting much more considering it is a KOA brand. Maybe the problem is more on the KOA side for not ensuring a standard. On the plus side: The owner/ manager was very friendly and helpful, and gave us a great deal because it was low season. On the negative side this campground focuses on long stay workers, and less on rv tourists. There was so much traffic from the pipeline workers that were staying there, making it very dusty, and a safety hazard for children play. They really need to enforce the speed and do something to control the dust. Doubtful I will stay here again.

We arrived very late at night but we've been warmly welcomed by Dean. He had arranged a lot with 15 amps power but when we left the office we find out that the 15 amps power is not available at any lots! My family and I were so tired and now we were stranded! No power, No place to sleep and it's almost midnight. I ran to the office and discussed the issue with the lady. she called Dean out of his bed and Dean had arranged another lot near his place. He has also fully refunded the fee and let us stay overnight for free! The next morning we had to leave so early for Edmonton so we missed the coffee and we couldn't even say goodbye! But we would definitely go back to say THANK YOU, DEAN! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you are headed to Clearwater or Wells Grey, this is where you must stay. Aside from the postcard views and private campsites full of mature trees, there are also cabins and full service rooms. Top that off with a terrific restaurant, with world class meals and desserts this a place you want to stay for your vacation. The staff are very friendly, with excellent customer service. Overall one of the best vacation destinations in all of Canada!

Awesome place, great food, and even better service. The owner went out of his way to accommodate me, and treat me like a human being. The staff is the restaurant were friendly and on point. The food was delicious and the conversation intelligent. I'll definitely be coming back. Thanks for the real world hospitality.
