Excellent hiking trails, especially if you're looking for a challenge! We completed the Four Falls Challenge on the first day and as expected, encountered almost 1000 feet of elevation, rocky terrain, and a LOT of tree roots. Both of us are experienced hikers and fell in dry conditions. Saw a child wearing flip-flops fall down dangerously close to a cliff edge! Many of these trails require serious attention and in some areas, the trail is very narrow and close to a cliff, so know your limits and enjoy the falls from the many overlooks. We hiked Trail 2 (the creek bed) and Trail 8 the second day. Again, encountered challenging circumstances; so glad I had water shoes. This is a "hard rock scramble" for 3 miles. Trail 8 is designated as "challenging" or "very rugged" and did not fail to engage every muscle but what delightfully beautiful.

Super stunning park with rugged trails and plenty of elevation change. Not for the amateur hiker! Beautiful views of the waterfalls make this park one of a kind for sure. Been here many times, I'll never get bored of what this amazing Indiana State Park has to offer. Bonus Madison is a wonderful town to walk the river front!!

Lodge is great. It's a park so lots of bugs. Sliding doors open on river side to see clearly or with a screen to enjoy the air. Lots of trails. Tennis courts. Sky view day and night. Low lighting at night. Elevators. Dinning room is good, staff is hit and miss. Some very good, some never come to the table. GOOD FOOD. No complementary breakfast on Sunday when we stayed. Pool was decent. Outdoors is amazing and Madison is very cool. ♡♡♡

What a great place! We visited with the intention of stretching our legs for a moment on the drive home from vacation. That brief moment turned into over three hours of finding waterfalls, swimming in the creek, and exploring the trails. We did a loop and were able to see Clifty, Little Clifty, and Tunnel falls. Down in the bottom of the canyon we were able to wade in the creek to escape the 90+ temps. What a great experience plenty left for us to explore on our next visit! Also, great picnic area and clean restrooms!!

My daughter Gloria and I camped and hiked here in 2023 and Ellie and I did the same in 2025. Both times were great experiences. Trails were well kept. The campground (non-electric tent campsite) was nice as well. There is a pretty new bathroom we were by that was great. Very thankful for the family restroom. Makes it easy with young kids.

Clifty Falls, Tunnel Falls, and Hoffman Falls are all breathtaking—especially after rain. Ranging from easy paved paths to rugged, rocky trails with creek crossings. Trails 2, 4, and 5 are more adventurous and scenic. •. Trail 2 is a favorite for adventure seekers—expect rocky climbs and creek crossings. • Trail 7 offers a more leisurely, family-friendly option. Clifty Falls is a must-visit for Midwest hikers who love waterfalls, a little challenge, and scenic forest trails. Great for a day hike or weekend nature getaway.

Clifty Falls State Park is a beautiful place to stay & explore!! This is one of Indiana's most prized possessions!! They Inn is beautiful and located overlooking the Ohio River. There's an indoor pool & hot tub, plus a restaurant on-site that serves breakfast, lunch, & dinner! The prices are fair. The food is good. The staff are friendly. The Inn is clean & comfortable. There's many great hiking trails to utilize. The waterfalls are stunning! There is also an outdoor family aquatic center to cool off on a hot summer day. This park has it all!! I love this area! Go see for yourself! You will not be disappointed!

Busy spring day, but definitely worth it! Took a hike on Trail 5 and the view of Tunnel Falls did not disappoint. Definitely looking forward to the cave being open soon as it was closed at the time of our visit. After hiking on Trail 5 we took a drive around the park and checked out the observation tower. After that, we headed to Trail 7 and viewed both Big and Little Cliffy Falls. This is a great state park with lots of awesome trails and lots of photo opportunities. If anybody is looking to visit, I highly recommend!

My hike was amazing, despite picking a day with slippery, frozen ice trails that kept my hike to just 2 miles. Gorgeous views along the canyon, exhilarating sharp climbs up and down. I hope to return one day and hike the other 13 miles of trails and reach the Ohio River. I can only imagine the beauty in summer and autumn.

Our visit was mid-week while the autumn display of leaves was nearing peak color, yet the park was scantily populated. The trails can be rugged as the central terrain feature is the ancient creek gorge, but you can probably find one that suits you. A dry period preceded our visit so the many waterfalls were empty, but be prepared for wet-going on some of the trails if you visit during rainy periods. Our limited hiking occurred on a well-marked trail. There appeared to be ample picnicking tables to manage more crowded weekends. We found the grounds to be in far better condition than many state parks in Indiana and other regions.
