It wasn't crowded. The price for tenting overnight was reasonable. There were a lot of bow hunters truck camping overnight in October when I stayed. There wasn't a lot of people noise, or carrying on, after 10. There was trash strewn about the camp sites and woods. The shower and bathroom facilities were kind of gross, but also typical for a state park.

We arrived today eith 2 travel trailers, having paid in full for reservations for 1 night... two side by side sites with electric &water. There was no one posted at the entrance kiosk. We stopped at a small unmarked building nearby, which turned out to be the park office. The lady was nice, checked us in &gave directions to our sites in Conflower campground. The grounds are well groomed. A quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Now for the problems...the site numbers are confusing. The signage is small. The electrical hookup at the site has a different number altogether, & that number is bigger than the site number. The sites were gravel turned to grass, &confusing as to where or how to park. The sites had garbage lying around. A ramshackle camper-like structure was sitting on our site & appeared long since abandoned. We called the office to complain. She said the occupants had until 2 pm to vacate. It was 1:45 & a gentleman was soon dropped off at the site & proceeded to enjoy sitting in the shade, not packing it up. Finally, our two husbands approached the gentleman & he said his "roommate" was out looking for another site. By the by, we waited... broiling in the sun. The roommate returned, presumably having found them another site. Somehow they pulled the non-road worthy camper-like structure away, bound for their new location. My theory: these gentleman were non-paying squatters. We will remain hitched & prepare to leave this campground early tomorrow...never to return. My guess is the two gentlemen will return to our site as soon as we leave. After all, it has a shade tree.

Very nice state park near Lawrence KS, great variety of camping options from full RV hookup to primitive tent sites. The rates run from $6 to $22 per day. Restrooms are clean and many have showers. Sites are large and well spaced.

We stayed at the cabin’s recently, and I can tell you, if you want to go to a clean park with great walleye fishing you need to stay here! Bring the boat!!! The only downside is you need to bring your own linens! Which actually I didn’t mind! Super clean, has AC! Great way to end your day on the lake! Be prepared for bugs and spiders on the outside…(welcome to the outdoors) but the inside are clean!!! Great place my kids and wife loved it! Will probably make an annual trip and drag the boat out from Colorado! On a side note! Loved having no television hahaha! Great place love it! It feels like you’re in the middle of no where but you can go to Lawrence and they have it all!!! For worms I recommend Miller Mart! It’s a gas station just down the road outside of the park! Worms are kept behind counter! Just ask! These are probably the best I have ever seen!

The beach is pretty private cannot actually swim there but surely get into the water. Safe for the kids too. The walkway from the parking lot to the spot is pretty cool too. Watch out for reptiles and snakes. Decently maintained. It’s typically a private beach spot so young couples paradise with a beautiful sunset 😉

As a full-time nomad, I stay exclusively in State Parks. This one, hands-down, is the worst I have stayed at thus far. The visitor center was closed upon arrival during business hours, there was no map with discernible campsite numbers (in park or online), the camp house was unattended, my site had trash everywhere, and the campground is full of what appears to be people living here like a methed out trailer park. There was broken glass and garbage all around the boat dock, the bathrooms are in dire need of renovation, and I have yet to see one camp host. The whole park has horrible signage, and I had to drive around for a half hour to find my campsite. Campsites are not all one direction, and it made getting into my site challenging.

My recent trip to Coneflower Campground at Clinton State Park in Lawrence, Kansas, was an absolute blast! Nestled just a few miles west of town, this spot is a hidden gem for anyone craving a fun outdoor escape. The campground itself is part of the massive 1,500-acre park along Clinton Reservoir, and let me tell you, the vibe was electric—especially with the tornado party we stumbled into at 3:00 AM! The rush to the shelter turned into an unexpected adventure, complete with howling winds and a sky that looked like it was putting on a show just for us. With over 200 sites, including electric hookups and primitive options, there’s something for every camper, and the year-round shower houses (one heated!) kept us feeling fresh even after the chaos. The fun didn’t stop with the weather—Coneflower Campground is packed with stuff to do! The nearby trails had us hiking and biking through stunning views of the reservoir, and the wildlife was popping—deer, wild turkeys, and even a bald eagle swooped by to say hello. The lake access was perfect for a quick dip or just chilling by the water, and the disc golf courses (18-hole and 9-hole!) added a competitive twist to our downtime. The sites are roomy enough to spread out, and the fire rings and picnic tables made our evenings a blast—roasting marshmallows while swapping storm stories was the highlight. It’s super close to Lawrence, so we even popped into town for some killer BBQ to fuel our adventures. Hands down, Coneflower Campground gets a big thumbs-up from me! The staff at the park office were total rockstars—friendly and quick with tips on the best trails—and the whole place felt like a playground for nature lovers. Sure, the tornado scare wasn’t on the itinerary, but it only made the trip more epic. At just $13 a night for primitive sites (and a bit more for utilities), it’s a steal for the experience you get. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just looking for a wild weekend, this spot delivers big-time fun with a side of Midwest charm. I’m already plotting my next visit—hopefully with less midnight shelter sprints, but I’d take it either way!

Too many full timers with unkept trailers that look straight out of the ‘70s. Is this a State Camp or a trailer park? Bathrooms were in serious need of renovating. It could be so much better.

Stay Away!!! The rangers and staff at this park are not there to help, they are there to harass and find ways to ticket you. I camped there 5 nights, and followed their protocol to pay via the drop box. They proceeded to give me 2 tickets and then charge me and fine and an extra night. They cannot do math correctly and are bent on making money. The tickets were for not having a camping permit, which I had, and they also charged me more per night which is incorrect according to their own posted rates. They even went as far as to accuse me of painting a picnic table purple, which was at the site, which obviously had been that way for years. They are not there to help you have a good experience but just to find ways to harass you, beware!

Very affordable. Clean sites. Good showers and clean bathrooms. Within 10 minutes of downtown Lawrence, so great location. Great place to camp, either with tent, or an RV/camper.
