Cloud Nine Camping

Welcome to Cloud Nine Camping

Cloud Nine Camping isn’t just a name—it’s a feeling. To be "on cloud nine" means to be in a state of blissful happiness, floating above the worries of the world, completely at peace. That’s exactly what you’ll find here.

Forget the cookie-cutter RV parks—Cloud Nine Camping is a hidden gem tucked deep in the Black Hills. With towering oak and pine trees, endless wildlife, and a peaceful atmosphere far from the main roads, this campground is all about embracing nature in its purest form.

What sets us apart? Our sites are one-of-a-kind. Lovingly carved out of the hillside by the current owners, each site offers breathtaking views, a true sense of calm, and the peaceful solitude of the forest. But with beauty comes a little challenge—backing in and leveling your camper may test the limits of your patience (and your relationship). Expect a bit of work to get settled, but trust us, the payoff is worth it.

Your Stay at Cloud Nine
We’ve restored this long-abandoned campground with care, but we’re still keeping things simple. Here’s what to expect:

Stunning scenery—Oak and pine trees surround you, wildlife roams freely, and the untouched beauty of the Black Hills is your backdrop.

Pure seclusion—No traffic noise, no crowds, just nature and space to breathe.

Hiking trails with privacy—Enjoy trails that weave through the property, offering a peaceful, tucked-away hiking experience. These trails connect seamlessly with national forest routes, letting you explore even further.

Basic amenities—We provide a dumpster, strong Wi-Fi, and a dump station for emptying tanks, but we don’t have restrooms or showers, so we only accept self-contained rigs.

The Location
Situated in the heart of the Black Hills, Cloud Nine Camping puts you within easy reach of some of the area's most iconic destinations:

7 miles to Keystone and Mount Rushmore

3 miles to Custer State Park

5.5 miles to Center Lake

3 miles to Lakota Lake

16 miles to Custer

19 miles to Hill City

22 miles to Sylvan Lake

36 miles to Wind Cave National Park

100 miles (about 1 hour and 45 minutes) to Badlands National Park

The Trade-Offs
We won’t sugarcoat it—these sites aren’t perfectly level, and settling in will take a little time. But once you’re parked, the tranquility of Cloud Nine Camping makes every effort worthwhile. Whether you’re waking up to birdsong, watching deer pass through at dusk, or gathering around the campfire under a sky full of stars, you’ll quickly realize this place is something special.

At Cloud Nine Camping, we believe in simple joys—starry nights, quiet mornings, and the kind of peace that makes you feel like you’re truly on cloud nine.
