Nice park but showing its age, needs work and maybe a host.

SO BEAUTIFUL - quiet and safe. We got an area all to ourselves with minimal people / cars around. Check-in was very simple, with sweet employee. Cop on duty as well. Park ranger was really awesome and came by to warn us that the gate would be closing. We were able to drive to a secluded swimming spot - hunted driftwood and shells. I loved it - such a relaxing night stay! I would keep an eye out for snakes / spiders - and check the weather before hand! 10/10 recommend!

Enjoyed our stay overnight at this park. Great view. Friendly attendant at park checkin.

The food is really good here .in the summer on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays. They have live music with a taco bar for a small cover charge.

The park is great with beautiful views. The problem is the 12 miles of access road riddled with large & deep pot holes. They don't care about maintaining it either. If you value your vehicle or rv avoid this park at the low rates, can you afford to bend an axle?

Even though open and poor vegetation, still excellent! Variety of spaces from small to supersized, electric and water, damp station just few feet away from the entrance. Excellent host. Fantastic viewes. Lots of space around and between sites. Great for dogs. Lake is not clear, like colorado waters, still good. One little downside- watch for the road that leads to park, once u off highway ,-potholes everywhere, if heavy, drive 25-30mls/h, to have time to react. They r circled with spraypaint, but paint wore out.

Peaceful campground with just 4 camp sites taken and 2 by camp hosts. The other side of the lake is reserved and tortilla peak is a better campground with better views from sites 11 through 16 has views of the lake to partial views. Water and electric on site plus a dump site at the campground entrance. Oh be prepared to bring all of your supplies. Grocery and gas is 15 plus miles away on this side. Both sides have a boat launch. Also there are signs everywhere that state no alcohol permitted. And if you do drink and cause attention to your campsite the ranger will come and take you away if caught with alcohol.

First time out in my RV, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. That being said... I thought it was great. I stayed 2 days to figure out the RV. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get into my spot. Beautiful view of the lake and surrounding hills. A 10 minute walk to the lake. A ton of space between RV’s. I will definitely go back.

Pretty nice campground on the east side of Cochiti Lake. For some reason, it closes in October. I think it should be open April-November. A lot of the nearby land is reservation land that is closed to entry. This means we weren’t able to explore this area as much as we would’ve liked. Saw a cool tarantula. These pix taken October 2016. A good overnight stop.

Cochiti Lake is a very nice getaway only an hour out of Albuquerque for family fun fishing and overall recreational enjoyment. This dam provides control systems into the south Rio Grande river as it flows into Albuquerque
