Coleto Creek Park & Reservoir

Overview

Coleto Creek Park & Reservoir offers a serene escape centered around a sprawling 3,100-acre reservoir. Managed by the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, this park is more than just a place to park an RV; it is a dedicated recreation area that balances natural preservation with visitor comfort. The park serves as a refreshing oasis in the coastal plains of South Texas, providing a lush environment for those looking to reconnect with the outdoors through water sports and wildlife viewing.

Location & Surroundings

Strategically positioned between the historic city of Goliad and the bustling hub of Victoria, Texas, the park feels secluded yet remains easily accessible. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rolling terrain and mature native oak trees that offer shade and a sense of privacy for campers. The primary draw is the massive reservoir, which creates a picturesque backdrop for sunsets and provides a cool breeze that is highly valued during the warm Texas summers.

Amenities & Park Features

The RV area features sites equipped with 30 and 50-amp electrical hookups and water service. While sites do not offer sewer connections, a convenient dump station is available on-site for all guests. Anglers will appreciate the 200-foot lighted fishing pier, while boaters have easy access to the water via a multi-lane ramp. For those on foot, the park offers over four miles of nature trails and a designated swimming area with a sandy beach.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Just a short drive away, history buffs can explore Goliad State Park & Historic Site, which houses the beautifully restored Mission Espiritu Santo. In nearby Victoria, families often visit The Texas Zoo to see native wildlife or explore the expansive Riverside Park area. The Presidio La Bahia offers another layer of deep Texas history, ensuring there is plenty of cultural exploration available within a thirty-minute radius of your campsite.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for anglers and boaters who want immediate access to the water for largemouth bass or catfish fishing. It also caters to families seeking a traditional camping experience with plenty of space for children to roam and play. If you prefer a natural lakeside setting over a concrete-heavy RV resort, Coleto Creek provides the quiet, rustic charm and starry night skies you are looking for.

It is always nice out at Coleto Creek Reservoir. I had boat issues and couldn't take the boat out, but we spent some quality family and friends time together. The restrooms were air conditioned, which is nice, but there were an awful lot of dead bugs in the restroom. They were all over the walls, floors, and toilet. Obviously the restrooms are not checked very often. If they are, then nobody is cleaning them. I have to take away a couple of stars for that.

This is my family’s 2nd visit (spot #48). We have camped at several locations in south Texas and this by far is our favorite. The area we choose here has a brand new bathroom with showers. The shower nozzles could be more height friendly but it’s a great shower nonetheless. Family friendly with little ones, a playground and swimming area is available. Please utilize the swimming area and not other bank areas where people may be fishing. Pets are allowed on a leash or other containment, be kind and pick up your pets poop. I believe there is a quiet time but not sure of the exact time. I definitely recommend this park for your families next getaway.
