Collier Memorial

Overview

Collier Memorial State Park offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty along the banks of the Williamson River. Known primarily for its expansive outdoor logging museum, this park provides RVers with a peaceful forested setting near Chiloquin. The park showcases one of the largest collections of antique logging equipment in the world, making it a cultural destination. It serves as both an educational site and a functional basecamp for those exploring the high desert and mountain regions of Southern Oregon.

Location & Surroundings

Nestled at the confluence of Spring Creek and the Williamson River, the park is surrounded by towering ponderosa pines. The crystal-clear waters of Spring Creek are a highlight, reflecting the vibrant blue sky and providing a refreshing backdrop for a morning walk. The surrounding landscape features a mix of volcanic soil and lush riverbanks typical of the Klamath Basin. Situated right off Highway 97, the park is easily accessible while remaining remarkably immersed in the Oregon wilderness.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground offers well-spaced sites, including several with water and electrical hookups for RV travelers. Visitors have access to clean restrooms and hot showers, making it a comfortable stopover for long-haul trips. One of the standout features is the historic pioneer village, where you can explore relocated cabins and period artifacts from early settlers. The park also includes easy-to-navigate paved roads and designated pet-friendly areas for those traveling with their four-legged companions.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The park is perfectly positioned for a day trip to Crater Lake National Park, located just a short drive to the northwest. On-site, visitors can hike the trails winding through the logging museum or fish for world-class trout in the Williamson River. For those who enjoy paddling, the unusually clear waters of Spring Creek offer a serene experience for kayaking or canoeing through the lush riparian landscape that defines this portion of the Pacific Northwest.

Who This Park Is Best For

Collier Memorial is ideal for history buffs and families who want an educational component to their camping trip. Because of its proximity to major landmarks, it is a great choice for national park explorers looking for a quieter alternative to crowded rim-side campgrounds. It appeals to travelers who value a rustic, nature-focused atmosphere without sacrificing essential utilities. Whether you are passing through on a road trip or staying for a week, it offers a tranquil environment for all.

The most breathtaking beautiful water to kayak in. Very important to only go up stream when you launch because people get stuck going down stream. About an hour and gentle paddle going upstream.

Collier Memorial State Park is the definition of calm and peaceful—a true little slice of nature’s serenity. Whether you’re looking to stretch your legs, enjoy some fresh air, or just slow down for a while, this park delivers in the most beautiful way. It’s dog-friendly (pups on leashes, of course), so the whole family can enjoy a day out together. Speaking of family, the park is very kid-friendly too, with a nice playground to keep the little ones entertained and a picnic area perfect for lunch under the trees. Surrounded by nature in every direction, the walking paths here are an easy stroll for all ages—no intense hiking boots required. Just bring your favorite people, your four-legged friend, and maybe a picnic basket, and you’re set for a perfect day at Collier Memorial State Park.

Weekday a great stop. Thought it would be a quick 3o mins, kids loved it and we stayed a couple hours looking at things and the kids did a scavenger hunt. We even had our picnic lunch there.

Beautiful park with beautiful rivers flow through. Across the road, there is a logging museum that is worth a visit.
