Overview

Colonial Pines Campground offers a serene and spiritually refreshing escape within the 300-acre Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center. Unlike high-traffic commercial resorts, this park emphasizes a peaceful connection with nature and a slower pace of life. Travelers will find a quiet, wooded setting that serves as a restful basecamp for exploring the historic Virginia Peninsula while enjoying a community-focused atmosphere that prioritizes relaxation and family-friendly values.

Location & Surroundings

Nestled in the small community of Toano, VA, the campground provides a secluded feel without sacrificing convenience. It is situated just minutes from Interstate 64, making it easily accessible for large motorhomes and travel trailers. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense hardwood forests and rolling terrain, which provides a natural buffer from the busy metropolitan areas and creates a beautiful canopy of shade during the summer months.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility features a variety of sites including full hookup RV pads equipped with 30 or 50-amp electrical service. Guests have access to clean bathhouses, a laundry facility, and a dump station for convenience. Beyond the basics, the retreat center offers extensive recreation including a seasonal swimming pool, miles of scenic hiking trails, a disc golf course, and multiple sports courts for basketball and volleyball. Each site also includes a picnic table and fire ring for evening gatherings.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The park's location is ideal for history enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike. A short drive brings visitors to the Historic Triangle, encompassing Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. For those seeking modern excitement, the world-class roller coasters of Busch Gardens Williamsburg and the water slides at Water Country USA are also within easy reach. The surrounding area also features several local wineries and farm-to-table dining options for a relaxing afternoon out.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is best suited for families and couples who prefer a quiet, wholesome environment over a loud or crowded resort scene. It is an excellent choice for those who value outdoor recreation and a respectful, calm atmosphere. I enjoy coming here every year! The facilities are great for accommodating Christian retreats and families, and the trails are beautiful. I love that with the acoustics of corporate singing in the pavilion, you can hear hymns echoing all the way from the other side of the hill. It really is special.

Our church loves this Retreat Center. This was our second year doing our Retreat. The rooms were clean, food was delicious, campsites very nice. The staff is very respectful and friendly! Thanks to Sherri for always being a great help and very informative. God bless everyone that works at this place and keep it up!

The wife and I wanted to camp in a new place that we have never been to. She wanted to come down to Williamsburg. I searched for campgrounds and found WCRC. As I read the description and the pricing, I knew this would be a good spot to camp at. I booked site 11 for a weeks stay. I was able to check in early online which was great. The site was clean when we arrived. Plenty of space for our camper and screen easy up. The site are not on top of each other. The sites are wooded and not an open field. Other campers were respectful and quiet. If I ever come back to this area I will surely stay here. We are from NH and we’re very happy to be here.

Had a weekend retreat here and the location, service, rooms and food were exceptional. Ann (kitchen) was wonderful and did a great job accommodating our guest with special food needs. Sheri was wonderful to work with from start to finish. Can’t recommend them enough!

Stayed here this past weekend for our women's retreat for the Greater Richmond Church of Christ. The place was amazing! Rooms clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff was so accomodating, helpful and willing to go above and beyond. The kitchen and food were on point and they went the extra mile to feed our large group (60+) even with allergies and special requests. I didn't get her name, but the lady running the kitchen Saturday morning was an absolute gem! Good luck to your daughter :) Would definately stay again.
