We stayed at Covered Bridge Campground in the White Mountain National Forest Sept.18-20. In most ways, the experience was the same as any other campground in the WMNF with one exception; the intensity of yellow jackets. From sunup until sundown, they were all around in huge numbers. They swarmed our food and water forcing us to keep things covered and eat in the car. They swarmed the water pumps in the campground, and they swarmed the sun drenched metal fire pits looking for warmth. They seemed to be throughout the entire campground like this. We've camped throughout the region at many campgrounds at many times of the year, including many times in September, and we've never encountered anything like this before. The old adage is too leave them alone and they won't bother you, but I'm numbers like this, and when they're frequently landing on your food and your body, it's a very risky situation. Fortunately, at sunset they mostly went away, so we could enjoy the evenings more safely and peacefully. I'm told they're a real problem on the nearby Boulder Loop Trail, also, but we hiked further down the Kancamagus Highway at Greeley Pond Trail and didn't encounter them. We also had a picnic at Otter Rocks with no yellow jackets, and we camped the previous weekend at Campton with no yellow jackets. It seems to be an isolated severe situation around Covered Bridge and Boulder Loop. Be aware.

Been coming since 1985, still love it to pieces, very glad that it hasn't changed. We always come in August, but global warming has taken away a chilly night's sleep, and brought in extra heat. We're considering coming earlier in the future for nicer weather. Note to hosts/rangers: one of the womens restroom locks was broken, and it was a known issue, but didn't get fixed in the 5 days I was there. This is NOT maintenance, this is safety, and I was disappointed that safety didn't get prioritized.

Our favorite campground in the White Mountains. Basic, no cell reception, many private sites especially on the Boulder loop trail side. Hosts are great. Safe for kids. If you want to play music or party don’t come here.

Love this campground. Perfectly situated between the Swift River and Boulder Loop Trail and close enough to town that if you forgot something civilization isn’t too far. I don’t love vault toilets but they were clean and only had 1 small spider. Water was delicious and my inner child enjoyed the pumps. I’ve camp here twice and will definitely camp again. Hosts were friendly and helpful. I stayed end of June and again early September.

Enjoying lying down on a rock and listening to the river sound, very relaxed and therapeutic. Good place for some sun light and relaxing, not many people visit it which was great! We had a quite but full of natural sounds afternoon here also took some fun pictures for good memories. Perhaps this place is more for the summer, so we can actually soaking in the water.

Quite and peaceful camp ground. Well maintained there are water fire wood and toilets on site but no shower or laundry. Overall we loved it 👍🏻

Nice enough place but if you camp down wind of the toilets (campsites 5 & 7 for example ) you will have to bear with the occasional smell of human waste. The hike nearby was steep but fun! Don't forget to take water.

A beautiful campground in the middle of a great motorcycle ride. The caretakers were overly helpful and I’m sure would have invited me to dinner if I mentioned I’d forgot food. Zero issues except myself noticing the whole site was a one way street. Great place to relax, and only a mile from the bath/springs!! I’m no super hipper but minus 1 star for PLASTIC WRAPED fire wood….is twine to much $$??

Short stay 1 night, but it was perfect! Even with the little bit of rain 🌧 WMNF is always delightful!!

Fantastic hosts, the sites are well separated and quiet. I think the only issue we ran into was the bathrooms, they were absolutely disgusting.
