Covered Wagon RV Park

Overview

Covered Wagon RV Park provides a peaceful retreat in the heart of Magrath, Alberta, often referred to as the Garden City. This park emphasizes a quiet, friendly atmosphere that makes travelers feel like part of the community. With its mature shade trees and well-maintained grounds, it provides a scenic backdrop for a relaxing stay in Southern Alberta's agricultural belt. It serves as a reliable home base for exploring the region's unique history and natural beauty.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated in the charming town of Magrath, just a short drive south of Lethbridge. The surrounding landscape is defined by rolling prairies and vast farm fields, offering a true sense of Big Sky country. Magrath itself is known for its historic irrigation systems and quiet residential streets, providing a slower pace of life compared to larger urban centers. Visitors will appreciate the easy access to local grocers and parks within walking distance.

Amenities & Park Features

Guests can expect a comfortable stay with essential modern conveniences. The park features full hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp service to accommodate various rig sizes. Sites are thoughtfully arranged to provide comfort and accessibility. Key amenities include:

  • Large pull-through sites designed for big-rig accessibility.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

There is plenty to explore within an hour's drive of the park. Nature enthusiasts often use Magrath as a gateway to Waterton Lakes National Park, where the mountains meet the prairies. For history buffs, the Galt Museum and Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden in nearby Lethbridge are essential stops. Locally, the Magrath Golf Club offers a challenging course, while the town’s trail system is perfect for a morning walk or bike ride through the countryside.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for long-term travelers and retirees seeking a quiet, stable environment for a seasonal stay. Great little campground / RV park in Magrath. The couple the own / run the place are very personable and helpful. Will definitely be stopping here on further trips to US.

We stayed at Covered Wagon RV Park for the first time and spent a month there. It’s a very nice, clean, and well-maintained park. The owners are friendly and make sure everything is looked after. The campground is quiet, and the rules are respected by the people staying there. Many guests are long-term, with some short-term travelers coming and going, which gives the park a nice balance. There’s also a walking trail with access right from the park, which we enjoyed. The location is close to the border and only about 20 minutes from Lethbridge, so shopping is easy. The town itself is small but very nice. We will definitely stay here again when we’re back in Alberta.

The drive into this park is at the very south end of Magrath. Down a very bumpy and rough road. Shook us and our RV up pretty good right at the end of our drive. Upon arrival we stopped at the office to settle.up our online booking. The online booking was only possible with us providing a credit card via email. Something I'm not usually comfortable with providing via an email. When finalizing our booking, we were told there was an extra charge if you have more than 2 kids. I do take offense to the discrimination against larger families. But I understand how it could bring extra usage of facilities. We would use no more than 2 adults and 2 teens would use I'm sure. We booked the 30/50 FHU site bit were asked by the man in the office to not use the 50 amp. I believe he said because it costs them more money. However, his thick accent made some of the discussion difficult. We ended up trying the 30 amp as requested but tripped the power around 25 amps. Also, had trouble with our jacks leveling on the clearly insufficient power. The RV sites are very small and tight. Even the pull-thru we got was short and barely accommodated our truck behind. Tons of shade from the huge trees to help keep cool. The water pressure was solid and sewer hookups were good. The town and park spaces were all walking distance. A little pricey in the end compared to other campgrounds around the greater Lethbridge area. I took no pictures here which says something in itself.

Perfect campground to stay at. Clean and quiet. We stayed in one of the cabins available. Great cabin!! Clean, spacious, and lots of amenities included. Close to the walking trails. Easy to locate and access from the highway. The location is perfect to stay at and still do a day trip to Waterton, Cardston or Lethbridge. I will be coming back again.

a hidden gem, staff are amazing and hard working you always see them doing something to benefit the park. RV spots, tent area, 3 cabins and day use available. There's an area for private functions. they have games and books as well. a small playgound to bring the littles your traveling with to to unwind. They have coin showers and laundry available. You're right by the beautiful nature trail that has beautiful sights and lots of nature to see. Great place to stay if you are looking to adventure out and explore southern alberta or are wanting to stay close to family.
