Stopped for one night on a trip. No system for after hours arrival. Campers were friendly & helpful. Office did not keep regular hours. Never saw anyone. Left $42 in a drop box at the little office building. They did have full hook ups.

Cowford is a great, hidden gem on the banks of the Tennessee River. We called last minute for an overnight spot, but when we arrived and saw the location, I asked about extending another night, and Miss Janie said no problem!! She showed us several spots and let us choose. We chose spot 12, right on the waters edge. We could see the sunrise and sunset over the river from our spot. The park is older, but it is clean and very well maintained. Miss Jainie works her tail off keeping the place up. The spots are gravel and fairly level. Some spots are pull through, some are back-in, and others are pull-offs parallel to the drive. The park does have full hook-ups, with shower and laundry facilities. The park does need some minor repairs and upgrades, which they are in the process of doing. They do not have Wi-Fi, but we had full AT&T service. Since you're close to Huntsvillle, we were able to pick up the local OTA t.v. stations; about 50 stations OTA. The rates are EXTREMELY, HIGHLY reasonable; less than $30/night. We highly recommend Cowford for an overnight or extended stay!!

We stayed here for 3 nights. Sites have full hookups with 20, 30 and 50 amp service. Ms Janey is a great host! The campground is clean, quiet and peaceful. Sites are plenty spacious for back-in and easy to maneuver. We have a 40’ 5th wheel. We would definitely stay here again! There are plenty of sites right on the water edge to take in the beautiful sunrise.

It is a beautiful place where you can camp and picnic. Leave the noisy city and come here to feel the riverside scenery and fishing, the most relaxing moment!

The boat ramp is still there, but not the dock. If you put a boat in at the boat ramp you have to stand on rock boulders to access your vessel while the bottom of your boat gets eat up by the rocks. I don't know who is responsible for rebuilding dock after it was destroyed. The Alabama park and recreation department should answer this question, I guess.

Hidden gem. 10 min drive to dollar general. Friendly people. Quiet park. Nice river view. Has laundry amenities and bathrooms. No wifi. Area to park your boats.

Very beautiful area. Almost no trash and litter around. Its great to see a place cared for and respected. Awesome place to bring the family for camping, fishing or even just a picnic.
