Camped in our RV for a couple of nights in September. Campground was full but quiet. Could hear helicopters at Camp Ripley and a couple of shots one morning but nothing crazy. Both wooded and meadow paths are clear and easy to walk with pretty views of both the Crow Wing River and the Mississippi. Interesting historical town and markers throughout the park.

Great park for biking. Good hiking as well, the trail through the prairie field was very scenic, lots of flowers. A favorite park of ours. Close to Brainerd/Baxter for any last minute needs or such.

I love this park! The combination of history, trails, and river views makes this one of the best overall park experiences we've had. Our campsite (#2E) was spacious, quiet, and we could hardly see any neighbors. My wife did say that we shouldn't camp across from the bathrooms again as the smell bothered her. I enjoyed our hike and my bike rides. I especially enjoyed my visit to Old Crow Wing. It was fun to imagine what this ghost town would have been like when it had 600-700 residents. The Paul Bunyan trail is beautiful as it winds along the Misssippi. I didn't have the time, but it might have been nice to take it into Brainerd for a longer adventure. The park does a very good job of signage for the trails and the history items. I will be recommending this park to others for sure. Great job Crow Wing SP peeps! :)

You’ll definitely need snowshoes to get in a good hike in the winter but will be rewarded with quiet beauty, little used but otherwise nice rolling snowshoe trails that are mostly marked and few to no people around you. There are full restroom facilities at the very nice rest stop at the entrance to the park off the highway (easily accessible from either direction and well maintained). The ranger station at the entrance has maps and water (on the back of the building) to fill your water bottles. Otherwise no facilities on site that I noticed. And most of the park isn’t plowed so I think only the 1 main parking lot is open in the winter.

I’ve learned to really like this park. I visit it maybe 10 times a year, most of those being fall and winter. The ticks and mosquitos aren’t issues then. There are some nice hiking trails ( I don’t camp at the park). The river is mostly undeveloped here, so it is nice to kayak and canoe. There are some beautiful, large silver maple trees along the Mississippi River shoreline and flats. Trumpeter swans concentrate on the River when all the other lakes lock up with ice or when the River is the first to thaw in spring. I’ve seen (and heard) fifty or more of these swans on some days. This is a wonderful place to snowshoe. There are some rolling hills that give great overlooks. Chippewa Lookout (next to the public access) is one great view, especially in fall and after an early snowfall when the river isn’t iced over. There are other nice vantage points as well. The park also includes land that is on the other side of the river. You have to use the Camp Jim Road west of Baxter to access it. From there, there are a couple different sections to hike, with one of those being a stretch at the confluence of the Mississippi and Crow Wing Rivers. I like going here because it really doesn’t get a lot of traffic... not that the rest of the park does anyways. This was a former farm, so you can still see some indications of that. The paved bike trail on the eastern side of the park is a fun ride.....it has enough curves and smaller hills to make this more interesting than other parts of the Paul Bunyan Trail. You will see multiple type of habitat and tree stands in this park.

Always fun to visit & learn from / there. Water levels are super low; Bring bug spray.

Nice campsites. Slow water fill station. Smelly Mississippi. Only 1 women's shower was working. Some sketers. Many chipmunks/ground squirrels. Some tried to get into travel trailer.

Great picnic area & bonus - flush toilets open. Did the hiking club trail that leads you through the history of the old shipping town Crow Wing - very interesting & learned some new things. Rest of the trail was along the river & in forest. Some small hill but not bad. Tree where still leafing out & I bet it's beautiful in the summer & fall. I recommend going to Charles Lindbergh State Park if in the area .... It's only about 30 minutes away.
