Crystal Cove Beach Resort

Overview

Crystal Cove Beach Resort is a premier destination located on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. Nestled among ancient cedars on the shores of MacKenzie Beach, this resort offers a refined camping experience that blends wilderness beauty with high-end comforts. Whether you are arriving for a summer family vacation or a cozy winter retreat, the resort provides a sanctuary where the sounds of the Pacific surf set the pace for your stay. It is widely considered one of the most sought-after coastal RV destinations in British Columbia.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated just south of the vibrant village of Tofino, BC. It sits directly on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, offering guests immediate access to a sheltered bay known for its calmer waters compared to other Tofino beaches. Surrounded by lush temperate rainforest, the resort feels secluded yet accessible, providing a perfect base camp for exploring the wild landscapes of the Clayoquot Sound. The towering trees and salty sea air create a serene environment that feels worlds away from the city.

Amenities & Park Features

This resort is well-regarded for its exceptional facilities and attention to detail. The RV sites feature full hookups, including 30-amp power, water, and sewer services. Travelers appreciate the level pads and the privacy provided by natural foliage and timber fencing between sites. On-site amenities include a modern coffee bar serving specialty beverages, a dedicated dog wash station for sandy paws, and an impressive adventure playground for children. The washrooms and showers are consistently maintained to a high standard, offering a touch of luxury to the camping experience.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Visitors are ideally positioned to enjoy the best of Tofino’s outdoor lifestyle. A short drive or bike ride leads to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, where miles of hiking trails and boardwalks wind through the old-growth forest. Adventure seekers can easily book local tours for whale watching or bear spotting, while surfers will find world-class breaks just minutes away at Chesterman Beach. The nearby town of Tofino offers unique artisan shops, local galleries, and a renowned culinary scene featuring fresh, locally sourced coastal fare.

Who This Park Is Best For

Crystal Cove is ideal for families and couples seeking a manicured, resort-style atmosphere rather than a rustic or basic campground. Its beachfront location makes it a top choice for those who want to wake up to ocean views and enjoy sunset walks on the sand. Because of its pet-friendly policies and high-quality amenities, it is perfect for discerning travelers who value comfort and reliability while exploring the rugged and majestic beauty of British Columbia’s west coast.

Stayed in the Rainforest cabin and enjoyed our stay 100%! A very well-maintained resort. Loved the easy access to the beach and free firewood every day. Cabin had everything we needed- very clean! It instantly felt homey and cozy. I would definitely come back and recommend highly!

Great place if you are looking for a children's play area. No sauna or hot tubs. Very dark from all the trees so there is little to no sun. The wifi is terrible so make sure you don't need to do anything on line. Overall its mediocre at best. The beach and bay are good. Nice beach walk.

We stayed for the long weekend in an RV. What a beautiful campsite in the most amazing location. We also did the yoga on the beach and it was incredible. This place is so clean and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We already booked again for next summer!!!

Great place to vacation with family. We had a 2 bedroom cabin with 2 hideaway couch beds. It also came with a great hot tub. We were just a short walk away from the beach. The good; location to beach and town. Beach is a quick walk down a well groomed path. Town is about a 8min drive away. Coffee, gelato, surf shop and store are about an 12 min walk from cabin. The staff are great, cabin is clean and has basically anything you need. Wood is free for fireplace, ice is free as well. If they don’t already have a kitchen need, just ask and they will see if they do. You only need to bring your own food, spices, drinks and condiments. Plenty of towels and blankets. There are only a few areas of improvement that I found. The beds in the couches were extremely uncomfortable, please replace them. But the queen and king beds were great. Hooks needed in bedrooms as there are no closets to hang clothes or towels. Also, extra hooks in bathrooms. The bathtub upstairs needs a rail inside the tub to hang onto to get into and out of that awful tub. It’s about 3-4ft high as it is a soaker tub. I could barely do it and I’m almost 6ft tall(Sprained my ankle trying). Would I stay here again? Most definitely.

Beautiful, beautiful location. Mackenzie beach is just steps away with access to rental equipment right on the beach (kayaks, SUP's, surfboards, wetsuits). The beach is a nice and quiet protected beach in the summer and in the cove there are beautiful tide pools with all kinds of sea life to explore. A five minute drive away is Chesterman's beach which has nice big waves if you want to play in a stronger surf. Don't miss the sunset from the beach! Beautiful. The campground is very well maintained - the sites have fairly good privacy and the staff were courteous and friendly. My main problem is the narrow road connecting all of the sites. They have trees and shrubs that make it impossible to easily back a trailer in. We camp a half dozen times every summer and this was by far the worst time we have ever had trying to get our 22 ft trailer into a site. We had to back it in and unhook while at an angle because of trees and shrubs in the way. It should not have been rented to us, it was impossible. We had to park it right in the middle of the site because we couldn't line it up how we wanted because of a hedge across the road that made it impossible to swing in how we wanted. Also the road should not be a two way. This road is too narrow for big rigs to meet one another head on. It's crazy that they didn't make it a one way. It's dangerous. There were loads of kids there, my kids absolutely loved their playground. The showers were nice and clean and the campground felt very secure. It's pricey but it's worth the money they charge. I wouldn't return because of the terrible amount of maneuverability due to the narrow road. Others there told me they have suffered trying to park in our site (#21) also, so it's a known issue with certain sites for sure. If you have a motorhome I think it would be easier but not a super long one as many sites are shallow. Check the dimensions on the map for sure. Also a number of sites (including ours at 21) have electrical boxes right beside them that hum constantly - which was unfortunate for us. Hard to lay back and enjoy nature when you've got an electric hum in the background. Overall I loved the campground and the location - but we won't be returning because of how hard it was to get in and out of our site. We will stick to the private campgrounds with wider roads that allow for more easy access and less of a nightmare after a long drive.
