Cultus Lake Provincial Park (Clear Creek Campground)

Overview

Nestled within the lush forests of the Fraser Valley, Clear Creek Campground is a popular destination within the larger Cultus Lake Provincial Park. It offers a classic West Coast camping experience where the focus is on reconnecting with nature. As one of the largest campgrounds in the area, it provides a rustic atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city despite being a short drive from Vancouver. This park is an essential stop for those who value fresh air and mountain scenery.

Location & Surroundings

The park is located on the eastern shore of Cultus Lake, surrounded by towering Douglas fir and cedar trees. The geography is defined by the proximity to the freshwater lake and the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The environment is characterized by dense canopy cover, providing excellent shade and privacy between sites, making it a peaceful retreat for those looking to escape the summer heat under a verdant forest canopy. The sounds of local wildlife and the rustle of the trees define the sensory experience here.

Amenities & Park Features

Clear Creek focuses on a back-to-basics experience, meaning there are no hookups available for RVs. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, encouraging evening campfires and outdoor dining. The campground features shared facilities including:

  • Flush toilets and hot showers
  • Potable water hand pumps
  • A central sani-dump station
  • Fire rings and picnic tables

These facilities ensure that while the experience is rustic, the essential comforts for boondocking travelers are well-maintained.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here. Visitors can enjoy swimming and paddleboarding at the nearby day-use beaches or hike the popular Teapot Hill Trail for panoramic views of the lake. For those seeking more structured entertainment, the Cultus Lake Waterpark and Adventure Park are just a short drive away. Fishing and boating are also staples of the area, with several boat launches available for motorized and non-motorized craft to explore the deep blue waters.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is ideal for self-contained RVers and families who prioritize natural beauty over resort-style amenities. Because the sites vary in size, it is best suited for small to medium-sized rigs; large motorhomes may find the winding forested roads a bit narrow. It is the perfect spot for travelers who want a traditional camping vibe while remaining close to popular tourist attractions, making it a great balance of wilderness and convenience.

Cultus Lake is a beautiful spot in Chilliwack! The crystal clear water, stunning scenery and there’s also so much to do such as swimming (of course not in winter), kayaking, hiking, or just relaxing by the lake. It’s clean, peaceful, and perfect for a day out with family or friends.

We had a fantastic time there on the water! The weather was perfect and our friend's place in the residential area was a few steps from the lake. If you go, definitely recommend you to book a place in advance. Be prepared to pay though during peak season. The water was cool because the weather just started to warm back up. But with a few days of higher temperatures, it'll definitely be warmer. The scenery is picturesque, and the water is very calm. Even with some speed boaters around, you'll have a great time kayaking and pedalboarding!

In love with this beautiful lake; so peaceful and charming. Not over crowded at all. Enjoyed some quality time with family; views were amazing. You must drive to the village and houses on top;

It's a beautiful well keep provincial park. One of the best parks so closed to the city. The big parking lot is just next to the big lawn. It's really good for the families with seniors and little kids. It's a quiet park on weekdays. You just need to bring your picnic, tables, chairs, canoe, paddle board and life jacket if you go there in summer. The lake is big enough for people enjoying the water sport. Hopefully, they will add more bathrooms there since it is super busy in summer. The parking will be a big problem in summer.

What a beautiful location!!! Plenty of room for large gatherings/families. Clean, sandy beaches. Lots of picnic tables and shaded areas. Plenty of parking. Stunning scenery. Local shops and amenities, huge theme park for children (? And adults). Great way to spend a day outdoors soaking up the sunshine!!
