Rv camping with great lake views. Fishing piers, hiking trails, wildlife, and more.

The price to stay in a primitive tenting site with electric, water, and clean bathrooms with showers was only $29.86 for one night with tax. We were the only tenters and felt safe. Cypress Park has a gated entry. The area has a fishing pier, hiking trails, a zoo, and a designated swimming area. I would definitely stay here again!

One of the best not-so-hidden gems in NWLA. Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area has all the things locals like to complain about not having. They have both primitive and RV camping, they have wide open fields, beautiful forest areas, nature trails, and even a sandy beach. There's a tiny zoo with peacocks wandering around and an enclosed area with (what I hope) are rescue & release deer. Plenty of shade areas, boat launches, cook tops, picnic tables, and nets for games like volleyball. There is a small entrance fee based on the number of people you have with you. If you get a day pass I believe it's $5 per person, or you can get an annual pass for I believe $25. It's a wonderful local gem.

This is a very nice campground! We had a pull-thru site on the lake. The only issue is that the utilities are on the wrong side...not sure why the pull-thru sites are set up that way because the back-in sites are set up the right way. We were able to make it work. The lake views are beautiful and there is a LOT of room between sites. Each site has it's own trash can (which is awesome). We'll definetly be back!

Wonderfully quiet. The lake views are lovely. There are a number of good spots to spread a blanket or sit at a picnic table. The trails are not super well kept (at least not when I visited) and there was trash washed up from littering around the lake sadly, but I really truly enjoyed my time there all the same.

We called and specifically asked what the zoo areas open hours/closing time then asked if it's dog "wiener dog" friendly. The guy replied yes. We drove 30 minutes pulled into the gate paid our $10 ($5 each) they seen the dog in my lap. Once through and entered the wildlife park a rude worker lady complained We have a dog and they're not allowed. She called and confirmed so we went to leave 5 minutes after paying to enter. I requested my refund of $10 and they rudely denied. Thanks to uninformed employees we wasted an hour commuting and $10. It's the principle not the amount but to some people $10 is a lot. Get it right!

My absolute favorite place. I'm 30, I came here when I was 6/7. I remember it vividly. It really stuck with me, picking up peacock feathers and petting the deer. I loved the little museum. It's one of the first times I realized I enjoyed science. If you bring your kids here they will treasure it forever.

We have been swimming at this lake a summer.. once a week we all load up and go.. today we loaded up and when we got there they decided that it is now closed on Monday and Tuesday! Did not fix this on there website and it has not been like that until now! Just ridiculous... who closes a lake, by the way it is a swim at your own risk place and they told us they did not have enough people to work those days anymore! Just very disappointed! Do not try and go to the zoo either! They charge 5 a person to see a couple of deer , a turkey, 2 chickens and a peacock!

$5 a person?!? That's a lot! Why not charge by the car? No annual pass option either. The petting zoo, is not. Only reason I gave it two stars is because I did catch one small catfish and a pretty large bluegill...I'm not going again...plenty of place to fish for free...it's a shame, location is nice

My family rented two of the three new cabins this weekend (Oct. 18-20 2019) . Checkin was easy and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The cabins are great, and they were very clean. Just an FYI Cabin 1 and 3 are handicap accessible . All three overlook an inlet of of the lake and have a nice fishing pier where you can also dock your boat . The Park Rangers patrol 24/7. The park has made lots of improvements and is a great family oriented place to stay .
