Dan River Campground was amazing. It is so beautiful. The people that own and work there are awesome friendly. The grounds are magnificent. They even cut and blow the leaves off their trails. One night they had a wonderful band outside.

Likely the most well taken care of RV park that we’ve ever encountered. A lot of care and pride has been engaged in transforming what was once an aging park into something worth remarking about. The grounds are immaculate and the landscape is beautiful. Ponds and trails and plenty of trees and shade. The listing does not do the park justice. And the owner Nick is a good man and fair. He has rules for a reason and they are not at all difficult to abide by. Sites are immaculate and 39 was the best for us as it was shaded and we had no neighbors. We looked out into the forest. Recent flooding prevented us from using the river. The owner quit providing his kayak and canoe rentals due to the recent flooding as there was no way to get down to or up from the river. Shower rooms were also immaculate and each had two brand new washing machines and dryers at $2.25 per load. The camp hosts Kay and Johnny were hard workers who were very pleasant and accommodating. The pool was also nice and clean except for thoughtless and disgusting parents who take their babies in diapers into the pool. AT&T had sometimes spotty one to two bars. RV Park’s WIFI worked okay, especially early morning, but it wasn’t great. About a half mile from the campground is a little farm produce store called Porky’s Produce. Ashley is great and her pet pig Porky was a very friendly fellow. Her produce comes from her mother’s farm and she also carries free-range beef and homemade link pork sausage (not Porky). Five miles from camp is the town of Madison which sports a coffee shop called The Mad Bean that serves breakfast and lunch and also has a couch area where customers can play music with the shop’s provided instruments. Over the 4th of July weekend the campground hosted a live band, games for the kiddies, and a few other contests and foods. It felt like large family groups met up at the campground to enjoy the festivities. Not our cup of tea but typical for the 4th of July almost anywhere you go. Sadly, a holiday now mostly unconnected to the most important reason why we actually have it.

Dan River Campground is an absolute gem in North Carolina, earning a well-deserved 5-star rating! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with friendly service and a truly welcoming atmosphere. The campsites are spacious, well-maintained, and offer plenty of shade, making for a relaxing stay. We loved the peaceful setting right by the Dan River, perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature. The amenities are top-notch, with incredibly clean bathhouses and laundry facilities – a huge plus for campers! While we brought our own, it's great that they offer propane and a small general store. The walking trails are lovely, and we enjoyed a refreshing dip in the pool. It's truly a classic camping experience with all the necessary comforts. We're already planning our next trip back to this tranquil and beautiful campground!

Hands down, the BEST campground my family and I have ever stayed at. It’s extremely clean, the bath house has laundry for a reasonable price. The pool is clean and refreshing and well maintained. The owners are the sweetest people you could ever meet. The grounds are clean and maintained and it’s so peaceful! Their little store is extremely affordable and very handy! This is our first time here but definitely not the last! I highly recommend staying here.

This place is amazing. The owners and camp hosts are awesome. They work hard to keep this place beautiful. The grounds are fantastic and very spacious. I love the shower/laundry combo. With washers and dryers in both the men and women's bathrooms. We are here long term and are loving our decision to stay at Dan River. The pool is also kept clean and is a wonderful addition to this campground.
