Dannelly Lake - COE/Miller's Ferry

RV Park

Overview

Overview

Dannelly Lake at Miller's Ferry, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offers a serene escape along the Alabama River. This park provides a classic, nature-focused camping experience where the water is always the main attraction. It is a well-maintained destination that prioritizes the beauty of the surrounding woodlands, making it an excellent choice for travelers looking to disconnect and enjoy the quiet rhythm of lake life.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the heart of Camden, AL, the park sits directly on the banks of the expansive Dannelly Reservoir. The location is characterized by rolling hills, lush hardwood forests, and easy access to the water. Visitors will find that the surrounding area remains relatively undeveloped, which preserves the feeling of a true wilderness retreat while remaining accessible enough for those exploring rural Alabama.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is designed to accommodate various setups, featuring spacious sites that offer water and electrical hookups to keep your rig running smoothly. Guests have access to clean restrooms and hot showers, ensuring comfort during longer stays. For those who enjoy active days, the park provides well-maintained boat ramps, a playground for children, and designated picnic areas that offer picturesque views of the shoreline at sunset.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to keep them occupied, with world-class fishing being the primary draw for many visitors targeting bass and crappie. If you prefer land-based activities, the area is perfect for birdwatching and photography among the local wildlife. Additionally, the historic charm of Camden is just a short drive away, allowing for quick supply runs or a local lunch after a morning spent out on the open water.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is ideal for anglers and boaters who want immediate access to the reservoir for early morning fishing trips. It is also perfect for families or retirees seeking a quiet, affordable getaway that favors outdoor recreation over high-end resort amenities. If your travel style centers on peaceful mornings with coffee by the lake and active afternoons on the water, this COE facility will meet your needs perfectly.

This is our second time to stay here, and I'm a little disappointed this time. The bathrooms are not cleaned regularly. There are several dead bugs in them, on the floor and on the sink. I DO like the fact that it offers 4 large bathrooms with the toilet and shower all in one room. The campsites are great. Many of them have water access.

Nice and quite! Bushes and trees between most campsite which creates nice privacy. River is beautiful and fishing is good! Only reason I rated 4 stars because they don't have full hookups. I will definitely be back!

Absolutely beautiful, clean and safe campground. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would like to have given a 5 but the internet service was really challenging in the back area by the lake.

Love this Rec.gov campground! Have been 3 times, and are looking forward to going back! We have camped in a 16 foot Travel Trailer, and a 40ft, 5th Wheel. Sites are natural and have a fire pit, picnic table, water and electric hook-up, shepherds hook-up(dump station near exit), gated entrance, camp hosts, boat ramp area, playground, and bathhouse that had a washer & dryer. Very peaceful here, lots of boaters, and saw plenty of wildlife, including hummingbirds, eagles, owls, & gators. Definitely come prepared for yellow flies, ants and mosquitoes. Some sites have water view, and or water access. Several miles from town, but the drive to Camden is easy, with shops & restaurants, that have a quaint historic charm.

We had a nice time, and my dog loved looking at the birds. Didn't want to fish because of the alligator under the dock.
