DAR state park by far the best me and my family has visited. We've visited 4 times this year with a total of about 14 days. Will be back next season no matter what. The Harper family

We go here every year! Park is friendly and spacious. Has a small play area for the children, lake access, a Pavillion and the sister park down the road has a pool!

3 nights here and yes busy on weekends and quiet during week. Campground manager Pam was welcoming and helpful. We did have to move our site, just our luck a private property that abuts the campground ( and the site we were at) was having yard work done with heavy equipment on Monday. There are only two restroom buildings and one shower in each, so that feels a little less than adequate on a full weekend. The beach is not really swimable due to rocks and very slippery conditions (due to phosphorus runoff??) which was a disappointment to us as the weather was very hot, and dogs are not allowed on the beaches, so they were super hot. I love to stay at state campgrounds due to the quiet atmosphere and this one was very quiet and peaceful. A little road noise a night but not bad.

What a pleasure it was to have 10 days on my first visit to this wonderful campground on gorgeous Lake Champlain. Pam and her team are always high-spirited and welcoming and work hard to keep everything moving smoothly -- the grounds, the bath facilities, the campsites, and the giant woodpile are clearly well cared for. On weekdays, it is peaceful as can be with weekends as busy as you'd expect but no nonsense during quiet hours. Just a gorgeous location with lots to do in the area or a special place to do nothing but enjoy the sunset.

I love this park I have been bringing my children for 25 years . This was my first time with out any little people and I realized how the park now has different areas older people are out by the lentos family’s are next to the play ground and younger adults are in the middle ! The bathrooms were a problem the one by the play ground was gross never cleaned and always out of paper products they need to clean them up and keep on them it was just so nasty The new bathrooms were ok housekeeping needs to improve ! And the lawn needs more care ! They need more younger staff running the grounds the host had 2 campers and the ranger was doing all the work and she was visiting with her company not a good thing team work makes that park run perfect !

This is a nice state park, although I do wish Vermont would put power into some sites. My dogs would enjoy the AC on hot days. The campsite is a nice size and I’m not far from the beach, but don’t think sandy. As another reviewer stated, the *best* beach for skipping stones as the beach is filled with flat stones. The lean to’s seem pretty nice and placed through out the park. I peeked into the shower house rooms and they looked nice, $1 for a 10 minute shower is great. If only I had brought quarters! Each shower is its own room with a lock. Plenty of handicap access showers. I’m including photos of my campsite.

Best place to skip stones in Vermont. The beech is not sandy, but is made up of flat skipping stones. The bathrooms are clean with new flush toilets. Hot showers cost 50 cents for five minutes. Sites vary, like at every campground. Beautiful views of the Adirondacks. Great sunsets. Small playground. You have to travel to hike or to launch a bike.
