Deer Creek Valley RV Park

I think the first question you should ask yourself here is——what are you doing in a God-forsaken place like Topeka KS? I can’t imagine a more depressing place to be long-term: no mountains, no ocean, schizophrenic weather with potential to be catastrophic if a tornado, ice storm, or other severe form of weather rolls through. Even if the weather is clear, you’re still being assaulted by constant wind. Also, high-crime, child abductions, and literally the worst roads I have ever driven on. If you are simply passing through and staying only a night, then Deer Creek is a safe/clean option to hide and sleep. The park is all concrete, clean, and gated. If I had simply been passing through, I would have given the park 5 stars. If you are thinking of staying long-term, I would consider the KOA on the south side of town and see what it’s like there. Management at Deer Creek is overbearing, and doesn’t allow you to ‘nest’ whatsoever. They are unreasonably strict on silly things, and you will get monthly, passive-aggressive emails with threats of being removed from the park if you violate the strict rules. The manager, Hall Monitor Ron, even parked his golf cart directly in front of my wife’s truck to block her and stop her as she was driving out of the park one day, almost as if he was law enforcement. If you drive around the park at anything over 5 mph, they will notice. Yes, even if you drive 7-8mph, you are liable to get stopped and spoken to. They have a three-strikes-and-you’re-out rule, removed from the park. I was one of the few families in the park with small children. I do think it is unsafe to have people carelessly whizzing through the park at 15 or 20mph. But, 10mph or less is reasonable. Parents also have a responsibility here, and need to know where there kids are and what they are doing. Conclusion: The park is clean, concrete, gated, and has a nice shower/laundry building that is centrally located. There is a pool and playground. These are all strengths. But the experience of living there long-term is soured from the oppressive rules and the way they are delivered/enforced. When you are dealing with the public and people of all different backgrounds, there’s gotta be some grace given. Deer Creek could be just as nice, even if the rules and their enforcement were relaxed somewhat.

We paid $50 a a night and it was one of the nicest RV parks., We’ve stayed at in three years of RV.ing Large and level concrete pads, capable of handling, a large class A and a tow behind vehicle. Excellent power, water and sewer hook ups. Lots of green grass for the dogs to do their business and the largest dog park in an RV resort we have ever seen must be 50 yards long We will definitely stay here again!

We had a lovely one night stay. Very quiet and well maintained! Clean restrooms and large private showers. Nice big pool that we enjoyed on a very hot day! The spots are all concrete with a picnic table under a cover with an awning to keep it shaded and also provides some privacy! They came around to see how we’re doing and if we needed anything. Also, we actually pulled off the spot 1 minute late and no one was hover over use to get out. Thank you! My only suggestion would be to have a small bench and another hook in the shower stall since there is plenty of space. Highly recommend!

Beautiful campground ❤️ concrete roads & very level concrete pads. And a covered picnic table with a shade. One of the nicest RV parks. AT&T and T-Mobile works great here. We are only here for 1 night. Ron in the office was very nice and helpful.

Deer Creek Valley is very nice. The people are super friendly, the facilities are always clean and the pet park is the best of all the RV parks I've stayed. Between my last visit in 2023 and this year they've added wonderful wood shade structures at the pull thru sites. When in Topeka I will stay nowhere else!

Stopped here before KS. WHAT A FIND! Beautiful spot, big rig friendly, and an great spots with concrete and gazebo. They don't have ice or a store, but the owner had a bag of ice and delivered it to us free! Can't ask for more. Sorry about the dirty camper

My husband called in the morning and made a reservation for a site, he was told that there was one site available. husband gave all our information including his credit card information. We thought we were good to go. We drive the 302 miles to the campground and when my husband gets there, the person who was checking him in says we don’t have your reservation and we have no more sites. What? The employee remembers talking with my husband, but didn’t complete the reservation in their computer. WTH? Hubby is ready to blow a gasket, informs the guy that he has a wife who loves to review places on line. And the guy tells my husband to not be belligerent and he’ll figure out something. Wait, you just said there are no sites available. Now, magically, there is a site? True, when my hubby didn’t receive a confirmation email or text, he should have taken a minute to call the campground again. Yes, that’s on him. But we have been traveling from Michigan to Arizona and now halfway home and haven’t had a problem until now. My personal opinion is that the employee took one look at my hippy looking husband and decided he didn’t want us camping there. It wasn’t because our camper is old, there were older ones (see pictures), it was just my husband. Here’s the campground review: this is an RV park, built for big rigs. Each site has a covered patio area, a picnic table and full hook ups. There is adequate space between the sites, room for the largest rigs and tow vehicles. There is one washroom, with laundry and shower (kind of weird with curtains and no area to lay a bag or clothes) facilities and a storm cellar. The roads are wide allowing for turns without running over the grass. This campground would be rated a high 4 or a 5 if not for the employee at the beginning of this story.

Deer Creek Valley RV Park is big rig friendly. We stayed for a night in a 45' 5th wheel. Most all sites are pull-through, and long enough that we did not have to unhook. Sites are also roomy from side to side. Everyone we interacted with at the park was friendly and helpful. All sites are fairly level, and include a picnic table. Water pressure was good, and the quality was great. They have a large dog park, and plenty of open spaces to walk your four-legged friends. They have a nice size pool, and a small playground for kids. The park adheres to quiet times, and was very quite in the evenings. The park is located minutes away from many restaurants and shopping. This location had good cell service from AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. If this review was helpful, please give it a thumbs up. Thanks

We stayed here for a week in October 2022. Very impressed with this park overall. Nice spacious dog park, decent playground, and a nice pool, though it was obviously closed at the time of the year when we visited. Sites are large and spacious, people are friendly, packages are allowed, and shower and laundry building is nice as well. Some ideas for improvement: turns onto interior roads are a bit tight, we had to remove from stakes and go a bit into the grass to make a turn with our large rig; water would be nice in the dog park for the dogs, and an online reservation system. Also, don't miss the BBQ from Lonnie's nearby restaurant- just go early, they sell out fast! Update: We stayed here again in June of 2023 on our way back out west. This was supposed to be a one night overnight stop, but my wife had to go to the ER with acute pancreatitis, and ended up being hospitalized for a week. The staff at Deer Creek Valley RV Park were extremely accommodating at a time when we were under considerable stress. They moved some things around to ensure that we could not only extend our stay for the time she was in the hospital, but they made it so we didn't have to change campsites and even allowed us time after her surgery for recovery. Extremely grateful to the staff for their flexibility!

If you're in the area and need a place to recharge for a day or few, this is the place. It's a parking lot campground, but the sites are large, level concrete sites with well maintained grass around your site. The entire place is kept clean and long term residents take pride in their sites. Dog park is huge. Pool area is very nice. Very quiet and relaxing. My favorite part is for a small fee they will let you wash your camper and vehicle on site. They appreciate the value in our rigs.

Staff was friendly, helpful. Guided me around facility. Shower was nice and hot. Only problem was that we got snowed in, couldn't pull our slide in, unable to borrow a ladder from them thanks to someone who fell off one and sued them. (Thank you to who ever did that)

We were looking for a place to stay the night on a trip from CO to MD. This place had a spot available so I booked it. I told my husband we had to be there before 10pm and he informed that was not possible due to how far we were still away. I immediately called right back and let them know we could not check in before 10pm and they said well sorry but no exceptions and we already ran your credit card and we cannot refund your money. UPDATE: We did receive the refund and that is appreciated. However the experience I posted indeed happened. The reservation was not under my name, but my husband's. We were told we absolutely could not check in after 10pm. Not 5 minutes went by from first call to second call to cancel. We were then told a refund was not possible.

Easy access. Wide drives with easy turn ins. Wide and long pads. Nice distance between sites that was grass. Playground for kids, dog run, horseshoes, several good fields to toss your discs. All well kept. If you need a place near Topeka, look no further.

This is a nice big park with a gate that closes at night. The park is very clean. The sites are close together and there isn't privacy. There are trees on the outside of the park, but none inside the park. The shower/bathroom was nice and clean. However, the showers are a slick concrete floor. There are no mats down so you don't fall. This is a hazard waiting to happen.
