Awesome little place for an overnight or a few days

Small campground right off the highway. On a Sunday night in late May we were the only ones there. Fire pits, garbage and recycling bins, picnic tables. Pit toilet. Not much to see. Road noise is the only significant downside. $35 CAD per night. Online reservations.

Awesome little campground just off the highway. No hookups at sites but most of them are large enough for big rig campers if you're set up for boondocking. They've got pit toilets, picnic shelter, horse shoe game, and the sites have picnic tables & fire pits. Sites are well spaced and heavily wooded so that most sites feel very private. This may also be because other than 1 vehicle, we were the only ones here (August 2024). You can't pay with cash anymore - there are no envelopes. You need to go online and "reserve" your spot for the night. It's actually really handy as it shows which sites are open on a map of the campground. The one down side is that online your $20/night fee is turned into $35.25, this includes a $5 processing fee of sorts, 6.25 or so for a fire permit that includes fire wood, and taxes. We didn't make a fire or need wood but unfortunately that's a fee you can't get rid of. Regardless, it's much cheaper and more beautiful than a hotel (to me). 🙂 We loved it here. We car camped but if you're in a tent, do note you can hear people drive by on the highway. At night it isn't bad as traffic is much less.

This is a place that is part of my core road trip infrastructure. Over the years I have stopped here countless times. It's halfway between two cities I regularly do business in. More importantly it's about one coffee's distance out and conveniently equipped with an outhouse. There has never been a time this pullout has not been maintained and is always clean. Well, as clean as an open pit based septic system allows. There was a season that the camp kitchen was vandalized and burned down but local energy producers donated funds and support to get it back into shape later that year. Thank you to them. As well, thank you to the park staff and their diligence in keeping garbages empty, roads cleared, and the sites in prime condition. There's not a lot here for amenities but they're reliable and well kept. A note on entering from the highway... Coming from the East traffic is often backed up behind a slow moving semi truck, or many of them. There is a long stretch of highway that is only one lane each way and has many curves and hills that prevent the safety conscious from passing. It seems on coming traffic is also freakishly synchronized against that as well. The result is that there is about a kilometer before the entrance to this park where Westbound traffic has the first opportunity to break free and get past the bottleneck. It has a Mad Max Fury Road effect and it's everyone for themselves. Adding to the hazard is as one comes around the bend a passing lane is provided to assist the commercial traffic turning left to the scales. Which, coincidentally is right in front of the turn into the park on the right. Semis go left and the majority of traffic caught in the derby to jockey for position takes the right lane to go by the semis. If you're planning on stopping at the park, be fully ready to be in front of people who are just hitting the power band of acceleration as they have been waiting for this moment assuming everyone will be going straight through and that they will be soon able to take the left lane opened up by the semis queuing up to turn into the scales. If you love your life, be sure to start your turning indicator lights far earlier than you normally would and keep an eye on your rearview mirror as you slow down to turn. More than a few times I've had hotheads inches off my bumper losing their minds, laying on the horn, flipping the bird as they gun it once you're turned off enough they can get around you. However, once you're in the loop for the park, that all rushes by and you will find yourself in a quaint little haven to take a break. If you're just making a pit stop, please pull to the right side with the outhouses on it and go up to the end to allow incoming vehicles a place to park behind you yet leaving the left of the loop for those who want to get by. There are two sides of the outhouse demarcated with the classical binary signage commonly found in a rational and logical region. Please close the lid and ensure the door is closed when you're finished. The park supplies waste bags for any furry family members who also need to take advantage of the break. They can be found on the South wall of the outhouse. The camp kitchen has a nice wood stove in it. Sometimes there's wood, other times not. The number of picnic tables fluctuates based on vandalism rates. Check in for camping is at 4pm and check out is at 2pm. There are bear proof garbage receptacles strategically located throughout the park. I'm realizing I don't rightly know what the provisions for water are here but will check tomorrow on my way through. Otherwise, there is nothing in terms of attractions within walking distance or anything more but the basics of a sufficient place to break up your journey. It's not an amazing place but it is consistent and reliable. Please treat it kindly.

Great little campground. It is well maintained and clean. The caretaker came and brought me wood. The campground is right on the hwy so traffic can be heard, but to my surprise there wasn't alot of noise overnight. Also quite a few ppl just stop to use the toilet. There are sites tucked in the back with a bit more trees to break the sound. I would definitely stay again

I haven't camped here, just used as a rest area. It seems nice but it's beside a very busy highway. Probably just good for stops along the way.

Quick stop along the way. Nothing special. Really close to the highway, wouldn't want to tent due to noise, but RV would probably be ok.
