Devil's Den
Overview
Overview
Devil's Den State Park, nestled in the Lee Creek Valley, offers a rugged and immersive escape into the Ozark Mountains. This historic park is celebrated for its natural rock formations and Civilian Conservation Corps architecture, which integrates seamlessly into the surrounding woodland. It provides a peaceful retreat for RVers who value being surrounded by dense forests and the tranquil sounds of nature rather than the amenities of a manicured resort.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in West Fork, Arkansas, the park is located deep within a picturesque valley. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by limestone bluffs and expansive hardwood forests that change beautifully with the seasons. Accessing the park requires driving through winding mountain roads, which adds to the remote and scenic charm of the destination. The valley location creates a unique microclimate that stays notably cool even during the warmer months of the year.
Amenities & Park Features
The park accommodates RV travelers with several camping areas that offer water and electric hookups. While the sites are designed to be rustic, they provide essential services for a comfortable stay in the wild. Guests can utilize the on-site shower houses and access designated dump stations. The park is well-regarded for its extensive trail system, which allows visitors to step directly from their RV into a rugged network of hiking and mountain biking paths.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the campsite, the park features a tranquil 8-acre lake where visitors can enjoy pedal boat rentals and fishing during the warmer months. Adventure seekers will appreciate the proximity to the Lee Creek trail, which is popular for both hiking and technical mountain biking. For those interested in regional history, the park's well-preserved stone structures provide a fascinating glimpse into the Depression-era work projects that shaped these public lands.
Who This Park Is Best For
Devil's Den State Park is ideal for nature enthusiasts and those looking to disconnect from city life. It is perfect for outdoor adventurers who prefer hiking, cycling, and wildlife viewing over typical commercial RV park amenities. Because the road leading into the valley is narrow and winding, it is best suited for those comfortable maneuvering their RV on mountain terrain who prioritize a quiet, scenic wilderness experience above all else.

Good trails with many views throughout though this one is more about the journey vs scenic (a couple scenic spots in the end or rather beginning...as we started the trail backwards. Today we took over 17000 steps. Hiked about 6 miles and back down to Sawmill loop. Through the fossil flats. This was our first long hike with our kids... while a long trip, there was minimal complaints and they truly enjoyed themselves. The trails were well defined. Quiet and extremely low traffic (we passed 4 on bikes the entire day) we stopped at the flats to enjoy a break by the water the last mile. Very serene and also probably more appreciated to do on the back end of the trail. Will be going back to complete the small trails as well.

Gorgeous 1.3 mile trail with moderate effort needed to hike it. It is beautiful this time of year with the changing colors!

Fun little place. Two wet crossings on the trail. Great place to swim on a warm day. Easy hike although not super well marked. I believe the hike was a hair over 2 miles.

Great place to mountain bike and hike. The flat exposed rock in the creek bed lends this trail its name. Many fossils are visible in the exposed creek bed. Along the trail you will see evidence of the CCC and early settlers, creek views, and big rock formations. This trail gives riders a choice of a 2.4, 4.2, or 6 mile rides and the difficulty increases with each mile added. GPS: 35.784433, -94.2452

End of July is not the best time to hike due to heat but this trail is pretty fascinating and i would say is a must see if you're visiting Devil's Den at any time of year.
