Devils Tower Natl Mon/Belle Fourche
Overview
The Devils Tower Natl Mon/Belle Fourche campground provides a truly immersive experience directly within the borders of Devils Tower National Monument. This facility allows visitors to stay in the shadow of the nation’s first national monument, offering a serene atmosphere that emphasizes the natural landscape. Guests frequently enjoy breathtaking views of the tower from their campsites, making it a premier choice for those who appreciate quiet evenings and dark, starry skies.
Location & Surroundings
Located in the northeast corner of Wyoming, the park is nestled within the rugged Black Hills region. The campground is situated in a valley along the Belle Fourche River, surrounded by mature cottonwood trees that provide essential shade during the warmer months. This unique location offers a blend of prairie grasslands and ponderosa pine forests, creating a diverse habitat for local wildlife and a dramatic setting for morning sunrises over the rock face.
Amenities & Park Features
This is a traditional dry-camping destination, meaning there are no electric, water, or sewer hookups available at the individual sites. However, the park offers spacious pull-through sites that can accommodate larger RVs up to 35 feet in length. Potable water and flush toilets are available within the campground loops, but travelers should ensure their rigs are self-contained. The lack of artificial light makes this an exceptional spot for nighttime photography near the monument.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Staying within the monument provides immediate access to the famed Tower Trail, which circles the base of the massive monolith. For those looking for a longer trek, the Joyner Ridge Forest Trail offers a different perspective of the geological wonder. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the active prairie dog towns located nearby and the frequent sightings of deer. The visitor center is also a short drive away, providing deep insights into the cultural significance of the site.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is best suited for nature-focused RVers who enjoy a rustic and quiet atmosphere without sacrificing accessibility. It is an ideal fit for adventure seekers and photographers who want to be onsite for the best lighting conditions at dawn and dusk. If your travel style favors tranquility and direct access to hiking over resort-style swimming pools and Wi-Fi, this historic campground offers a legendary Western experience you won't soon forget.

Camped here last week and the sites are extremely attractive, with views of devils tower! What was not awesome, the over attentive/ invasive and almost rude camp hosts. The told my daughter who is 14 and an only child she could not ride her skateboard, and it was an almost negligible in size amendment or the rules board- lame. The told us we could not take a second armload of wood as tenters, they said we should not take a group site even though there were two families travelling together but ultimately they let us. Just very mall cop style authoritarians. But otherwise it was a great facility for camping. We were right across from bathroom/ wash house. Flush toilets and sinks, plus potable water and a camp sink for dishes and enough waste receptacles , firewood is a hard maybe. No cash accepted , credit card only. 3 stars due to host but camp spots and Amenities a 5/5 for sure.

Small but amazing campground! Only $20 per night, which is very affordable. It’s just about a 6-minute drive to the Devils Tower parking lot, and all the staff were super nice and friendly. You can even see the Tower right from the site! The only downside is there are no showers, but we still loved our stay here. Definitely would come again! P.S. There was no free firewood when we were there.

This is a beautiful campground in a beautiful setting inside the National Monument. It is clean, well kept and borders on a prairie dog town for entertainment! All sites are first come first served, and when we were here in late September it stayed pretty full. Sites are level and have a picnic table and fire ring with drinking water and restrooms close by, no showers or dump station. There are 4 handicap campsites next to the restrooms. Trails lead right out of the campground to the tower, visitor center and whole trail system, no driving required if you are reasonably fit. Otherwise it is just a short drive to the visitor center.

Belle Fourche River Campground is located within the Devil's Tower National Park. Most sites have a spectacular view of Devil's Tower. The campground is next to the prairie dog town and has easy access to the trails. This campground is a first come, first serve. We arrived around 1 p.m., and at least half the sites were available at that time. The sites did fill up quickly as the afternoon progressed. When checking in, grab a registration sheet at the entrance kiosk. Select your site, complete the form, including credit card info, and then deposit the form back at the kiosk. Sites appeared to be pretty level, although they may need some slight adjustment. Sites were large enough to accommodate most RVs and trailers. There are no hookups at these sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. The park has firewood available at no charge at a spot near the kiosk. KUDOS to the park for providing firewood. Most parks forbid outside wood for concern of transporting ash borers or other insects and disease. Providing wood at no charge helps ensure that guests adhere to the outside wood ban. The camp hosts greeted us upon arrival and were friendly and helpful. The park was quiet in the evening. There are limits on generator hours, which helped reduce noise. There is a KOA right outside the gate. The KOA has a cafe, gift shop, and some food items. There is a great bar and grill down the road from the park entrance. We stayed 2 nights here, which was plenty of time to experience the park and surrounding area.
