Dockweiler RV Park

Overview

Dockweiler RV Park offers a rare opportunity to camp directly on the sand in Los Angeles County. As the only beachfront RV park in the area, it provides a unique coastal experience where the Pacific Ocean serves as your front yard. This county-operated facility is known for its accessibility and proximity to the vibrant energy of Southern California's coastline, making it a sought-after destination for West Coast travelers seeking a true oceanfront stay.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Playa Del Rey, the park sits on the edge of the expansive Dockweiler State Beach. The environment is defined by wide stretches of sand and the constant rhythm of the surf. Travelers should note the proximity to LAX airport; while the location offers a front-row seat to departing aircraft, the urban soundtrack is part of the park's distinct character. The park is conveniently connected to the famous Marvin Braude Bike Trail, which spans miles of scenic coastline.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed for functional comfort, featuring full hookups at its sites, including water, sewer, and electrical connections to accommodate various rig sizes. Guests have access to essential facilities such as restrooms and hot showers, which are vital for rinsing off salt and sand after a day at the beach. Additional amenities include a laundry room and a dump station. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and a barbecue grill, encouraging outdoor dining and sunset viewing.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the 22-mile paved bike path that connects the park to Manhattan Beach and the Santa Monica Pier. The beach itself is one of the few in the region that features public fire rings, allowing visitors to enjoy traditional beach bonfires under the stars. Within a short drive, guests can explore the upscale marinas of Marina del Rey or the world-famous boardwalk at Venice Beach, offering a mix of relaxation and urban exploration.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for active travelers who prioritize a premier location and direct water access over a secluded, quiet resort atmosphere. It is a fantastic choice for aviation enthusiasts due to the unique views of ascending planes and for families who want a beachfront basecamp. If you are looking for a convenient spot to explore Los Angeles while enjoying the sea breeze, this park fits your travel style perfectly.

Location is spectacular because so different from BLM / NM / NP and the standard RV parks. We immediately booked two additional nights. We used the rental bikes opposite to the campsite for exploring the area. Would definitely return. In my opinion excellent value for money.

This is an okay place to camp for a night or two if you don’t find anywhere else in LA. We pay $45 the first time for a dry site, next time we payed $55 (pretty expensive for just the space). Unfortunately we had a homeless girl sleeping right across from our site, it wasn’t a problem until she started walking around every van or RV. I called the front desk and they answered with the most lazy tone saying that if it gets worst I should call the police. If I’m paying for a private camp spot I’m not expecting to have to deal with the police or homeless people. So pretty disappointed management.

This is a beach site. We read some negative reviews about the people and the bathrooms. We decided to come anyway. The people are friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are a bit spartan but well kept. Totally acceptable. And on the plus side you are directly at the beach. The planes overhead are not so bad and at night there are very few anyway. The noise from other campers was ok. It is a beach site and on a Saturday night there are dozens of bonfires with people not from the rob park so without rules. But it’s all good fun. We would definitely return here.

It's a nice place when you have your own trailer. Just hook it up, and you're good. Met some good friends. From Poly's of Polly's restaurant upland. I've never been there. We'll check it out, though.! Him and his wife were great and family! You can meet great friends if you're a great friend.

🌴🚐 **Beachfront Bliss at Dockweiler RV Park!** 🐾🌊 Just wrapped up a relaxing 5 day stay at **Dockweiler RV Park** in Playa Del Rey—and wow, what a gem! If you're looking for an RV spot that puts you *right on the beach*, this is it. The views of the Pacific are unbeatable, and the sound of the waves makes for the perfect backdrop to unwind. 🐶 **Dog-friendly? Absolutely!** Our pups had a blast running along the clean, wide beach. It’s one of the few places where both humans and dogs can enjoy the ocean breeze together. 📶 **AT&T service was flawless**—full bars the entire time, which made remote work and streaming a breeze. 🚿 **Restrooms and showers could use a little TLC**, but they’re functional. If you’ve got your own setup in your RV, you’re golden. **A few things to note: the RV spots are quite tight, and the utilities are located in the middle of each site, which makes it less comfortable to sit outside your camper and enjoy the view. It’s not ideal for outdoor lounging, but manageable if you're mostly there for beach access. Whether you're here for a weekend escape or a longer stay, Dockweiler offers a rare combo of beach access, city convenience, and laid-back vibes. Just be ready for a airplane noise—it’s right near LAX—but honestly, the ocean makes up for it. Highly recommend for beach lovers, dog owners, and anyone who wants to camp with a view! 🌅
