There was supposed to be magicians, escape artists, LEGO competition. We couldn’t find anyone to help us find those things. It wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. I did enjoy the free petting zoo.

Fairgrounds is a very nice area with rolling hills, car & horse tracks, outbuildings, large exhibition halls, and multiple bodies of water. Great place for biking, walking, picnics, and fishing. It also meshes well with large crowds during the Duquoin State Fair which hosts several vendors from across the Heartland and amusement park rides. Overall a great place, however during the fair it'd be nice to have more rides that toddlers can ride as there were only 3 this year, or an area with play equipment/sensory play for that age group.

Great craft show last weekend! The Rusty Truck was a lot of fun, even with no electricity on Saturday.

Barely any lights out, not worth $20. It's worth like $5-10 max. Go to the coulterville light display they have a drive through and walk through with about 5x the amount duquoin and no entry fee, you can donate money though which I do recommend so they'll still continue.

The 2023 Du Quoin State Fair was the busiest I have seen in quite some time. There were a ton of booths, great music, and the atmosphere was electric.

I have been going to the fair nearly every year since I’ve been born. I feel like every year, it gets less exciting than the previous year. This year the prices were nearly unaffordable. As a mom of 3, it’s just not possible to buy all 3 kids arm bands to ride the rides, get food for all 5 of us, and pay for parking as well. My husband and I had tickets to a concert that got canceled due to the performer having an illness. Completely not the fairs fault at all. However, we have to REQUEST to get a refund. Fill out papers, send them in with our original ticket, then wait until the end of the fair for them to start writing refund checks and mail them. There has to be a better way to do this. They did have the Clydesdale parade through the fairgrounds which was pretty cool. Over all, I just feel like what used to be a fun family activity, is now totally unaffordable and not worth it.

We haven’t been here in years! We came on the first Sunday of the fair, in the afternoon. We went through the gate off of route 14 and found front row parking everywhere. The whole fair wasn’t busy at all. I recommend buying the wristband if your planning on buying over 20 tickets ($25), because for $30 dollars you can get unlimited rides.
