Duck Puddle Campground

Overview

Located on the shores of the beautiful Pemaquid Pond, Duck Puddle Campground offers a quintessential Maine camping experience. This family-owned destination provides a peaceful retreat for RVers looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Midcoast region. The park balances a rustic, wooded atmosphere with the convenience of modern facilities, making it a reliable choice for both short stays and extended seasonal vacations. Visitors are often drawn to the calm waters and the slower pace of life that defines this lakeside campground.

Location & Surroundings

Set in the town of Nobleboro, Maine, the campground sits comfortably between the popular hubs of Damariscotta and Waldoboro. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense forests and freshwater basins, offering a refreshing alternative to the busy coastal corridors. While the park feels secluded, it remains just a short drive from Route 1, providing easy access to the rocky coastline. The immediate area is perfect for those who appreciate quiet backroads, local farm stands, and the shimmering reflection of the sun on freshwater lakes.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped to handle various camping styles, offering full hookup sites that accommodate larger rigs. On-site amenities focus on outdoor recreation and community convenience, including the following:

  • A well-stocked camp store for firewood, ice, and daily essentials.
  • A large recreation hall for indoor activities and community gatherings.
  • On-site boat rentals including canoes, kayaks, and motorboats.
  • A private boat launch and dock for easy access to Pemaquid Pond.
  • Clean restroom facilities, laundry services, and a playground for children.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

One of the primary draws of staying in Nobleboro is the proximity to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, one of Maine’s most iconic and photographed maritime landmarks. Travelers can spend their days exploring the charming village of Damariscotta, famous for its oyster festivals and local boutiques. For a day on the salt water, the bustling docks of Boothbay Harbor are within a reasonable driving distance. Fishing enthusiasts will find Pemaquid Pond particularly rewarding, as it is known for its excellent bass and pickerel fishing right from the campground shoreline.

Who This Park Is Best For

Duck Puddle Campground is an ideal match for family travelers who prioritize water-based activities and a social, community-focused environment. It appeals strongly to RVers who prefer the tranquility of a lake over the salt spray of the ocean, yet still want to be close enough to visit the coast. If you are looking for a pet-friendly getaway where you can launch a boat at sunrise and roast marshmallows by a fire at night, this park offers the perfect blend of recreation and relaxation.

My husband and I stayed at site 68. I do not recommend this site because on the edge of the site are three portapotties. Our fire pit was facing it and the picnic table. We could only park the camper one way so we couldn’t avoid the constant smell of it. It was overwhelming. To make things worse poison ivy surround the site!! I think this campground is cute and very kid friendly but I will never stay at that site again. Usually I would spend time in my hammock but that just wasn’t possible. Please inform guests of where the portapotties are and where there is poison ivy.

We are currently on a tent site that is so sloped that we cannot fit our tent on it and we are sleeping in the back of our Subaru Outback for the entirety of our stay. The sites are too close together and the restrooms are too far apart which is difficult to accommodate my upcoming hip replacement surgery when we return home. IMHO, the decorations and planned activities give the whole experience a rather cheap feel.

We rented a bunkhouse for the weekend. Pricing was decent, however, the bunkhouse was quite disgusting. I understand it's a campground and bugs are a given, but the amount of webs and dead bugs was extremely unpleasant. The doormat was matted with hair and fur. The beds were filled with dirt, food from the previous visitors and we found mouse droppings on 2 of the bunks. The rickety door came with a screen that was torn to the point that the hook lock inside made no sense because anyone could have gotten in by reaching their hand through the screen to unlock it. The ladies at the shop were very sweet. Despite the overwhelming amount of people and crowding, the overall vibe of this place is lovely, but I'm not sure I would return given the price of the bunkhouse in comparison to the cleanliness of it.

Family owned. Such a private feeling when you get to the campground. Most of the sites are in the woods and are nice and shaded. I think the full hookup sites are more out in the field but the area is so pretty. You’re right on the water and they have a small boat dock, small beach, and kayak rentals. Some of the sites are tricky to get in, but you can make it work. If not, they’ll find a spot that works for you. Very friendly staff. Playground, huge community fire pit, camp store, dump station, events on the weekends. Our site had the water on the wrong side but they said they’re working on fixing that. It worked out regardless. I’m surprised there wasn’t another dumpster in the area. It’s kind of a trek, but makes for a nice walk. Very laid-back campground. If we lived closer I would consider getting a seasonal spot here. I got Nelson Ledges Quarry vibes ♥️

We have mostly raised our family (5 children) & camped both tent, trailer & RV considerable Amount all over the west and east coast. This is such a magical place for upscale amenities meets rustic and old fashioned fun- I would HAPPILY pay the $70/night cost to enjoy the beauty, peace, whimsy of this incredible campground! Massive bonfires, beautiful & well kept facility, on site mercantile/convenience store, a plethora of activities both on & off water for the whole family! Best I’ve seen ever. For the birders out there- I heard 18 different birds in 30 min, before starting my bird app I also heard/saw Canadian geese and seagull.
