Ownership at this campground is attempting to shut down personal data use for mobile internet by any and all campers. According to the FCC, blocking a personal hotspot is illegal. You pay for the data on your phone, which is used when you turn on your hotspot. This campground is telling travelers that you may not use your personal phone data because it affects their major WiFi setup. I'll be the first to tell you that is false. Their network, and your hotspot will never cross, and it does not matter how much money they paid for their 'network', you are using YOUR phone data to connect to YOUR device. Basically, if the hotspot affected their 'network' so much, they would also restrict cell phone calls. Ownership at this campsite is pure cancer, stay away. Plenty of space for Boondocking around Durango. P.S. The 'high tech' wifi at this KOA doesn't even work to begin with. What a joke!!

Me and my husband stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 1/2 year old boy in a basic cabin with no bathroom. My first issue was how difficult it was to find our cabin given we didn't arrive until about 9. They had left us a note and a map directing us to it, but it was so dark and the numbers so small we circled around the grounds a few times before we found it. Even slightly bigger signs would be very helpful. Second, and this I guess is partially my fault, they say bring your own linens but didn't specify pillows. I brought sheets and pillowcases but had to buy some pillows the next morning. Third, there was only one power outlet in our cabin and it was a bit difficult taking turns charging our phones and camera batteries. Next time I will bring an extension cord or something. Also just to note, all breakfast/food items, even a cup of coffee, cost money. There is a playground, a little dog park, and a small mini golf course. The bathrooms and showers were all very nice and also conveniently placed. There is a lounge above the bathrooms with a TV, some boardgames and puzzles, and a pool table. All staff were very nice, they all loved my son and talked to him any time I was in the main office/shop. Overall, staying here (my first KOA experience) was 100x better than staying at any hotel. My son loved running around outside our cabin. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us in the cabin. Beds were comfy, temperature perfect. It felt like we had our own little house for a few days with so much more privacy than a hotel. I will never, ever choose a hotel over KOA from now on. There were a few surprises but I know now for next time.

We booked a three night stay in one of the Deluxe cabins. This was our first stay at a KOA. The charge was a little steep ($166+tax per night) but we have a dog who is very shy of both people and other dogs, so we figured a cabin would make him feel a little more comfortable instead of our usual La Quinta. The woman who made the reservation spent a lot of time finding us the perfect cabin that would be a bit more secluded. When we got there we were placed in the middle of a very busy campground! Perhaps that was all they had left, but we were right in front of the bathroom and surrounded on all sides by RVs. Right away the dogs seemed really stressed by all the noise and activity. There were also a lot of people with dogs off leashes! As we were unpacking a gentleman by the name of "Doug" told us about the propane fire pit. He brought us propane, and showed us how to use it, explaining that it was included in the cabin rent, and they replaced the fire pits at the cabins to help cut down on forest fires recent to the area. While we were talking to him about this, he mentioned that dogs could not be left unattended in the cabins, what-so-ever. We were a little surprised, but told him that the dogs were crated (we always bring their crates since most hotels require them) and while we try to bring our dogs with us everywhere we go while on vacation, not everywhere is dog friendly, so yes, sometimes they are crated for a few hours at a time. We told him we would go ahead and get a refund and quickly find a hotel, but he wanted to ask for clarification and then came back to assure us that that was not nessesary, and dogs were indeed allowed in the cabins unattended. He then proceeded to tell us to make sure to "put something on the bottom of the crates so when they poop and pee they wouldn't make a mess, he hopes we take good care of them but now we are free to 'party', etc etc". Yikes! They are most definitely potty trained. At this point I was really offended, and just decided to walk down to the office and get a refund, because at this point Doug had ruined our trip, and made us feel extremely alienated and hurt, accusing us of being bad dog parents. When I went down to the office, they convinced us to stay, and honestly, I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings about how unhappy I was, so we just stayed put. The kicker is when we returned the propane tank, they explained they would go ahead and add that charge to our bill. Doug had told us it was included, and actually had brought us one to use. My husband was the one who checked out. I wanted to go back talk to them about it, but he was so over it he didn't want to even argue. I don't blame him. Hopefully there isn't a charge on our account for that, because we never even used it. We had a horrible experience. Other campers dogs were constantly off leash in the campground, it was loud, busy and charging for the mini golf was outrageous, the green was ripped up in many places and wasn't playable.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff. They even make pizza to order in the office, ice cream to. Cant get better than that. Quiet and clean in the cabin. Good view. Storm come in after I got in thankfully.

We made a last minute reservation and stayed in one of the deluxe cabins. Staff were all really really friendly and the girl that took our reservation was so nice and actually waited on hold for us while we decided whether we were going to stay there or not. The cabin was nice and it was clean. The only complaint I have and it's partially our fault, the was no linens on the beds and no towels in the bathroom. Being as it is a KOA we should've known but it maybe a good thing to disclose when they mention the amenities. I will be bringing my family back to Durango and we will be starting at this KOA. It's the nicest KOA I've stayed at to date.

This KOA was one of the nicest campgrounds I have stayed at in a long time. The pool the cleanest pool I have ever seen and it was actually heated. The bathrooms were spotless and the staff was so nice to my kids. It is located on the hill so you get the beautiful view of the mountains. They also have a free outdoor movie every night which my kids loved and mini golf. If you visit Durango you gotta stay here!

We really enjoyed the time at this campground. The shower is really clean and there are plenty of room and showers. The staff is really friendly and helped us for any questions. WiFi works fine. This is the place to stay One negative point was the spot Numbers Are so small and not readable if you arrive in the night.

Great accommodations, easy in and out, Staff friendly and helpful. Very large KOA, they have Cabins, tents and ample parking for even the largest RVs. Close to Durango, shopping, browsing and attractions. Will stay again. Kosmo

The KOA Campground staff were very friendly for check-in they got us a very comfortable cabin which included air conditioning comfortable beds, fan and overall very great experience. The rooms were very clean and we're well kept. Definitely would recommend to any friends or family that are passing through.

Susan, Carol and the rest of the staff were -dare I say it-awesome. The campground was immaculate, spectacular views and very well situated between Durango and Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The couples cabin we stayed in is very comfortable and homey. If you've never tried camping before, this was way better than a hotel and less expensive. Check out their store, they had some great souvenir choices.
