Durango RV Park - Open Year Round

Overview

Durango RV Park, situated in the heart of southwestern Colorado, offers a reliable destination for travelers seeking year-round access to the San Juan Mountains. The park provides a straightforward, welcoming environment for those passing through or staying for an extended southwestern adventure.

Location & Surroundings

Located just minutes from the historic town of Durango, the park sits along the Animas River corridor. Guests are positioned to enjoy the stunning backdrop of the La Plata Mountains while remaining close to modern services and town amenities. The property offers easy access to major regional highways, allowing for simple navigation for those traveling in larger vehicles. This proximity ensures that visitors enjoy natural beauty without sacrificing access to grocery stores and fuel.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed to accommodate a wide variety of rigs, ranging from smaller camper vans to larger Class A motorhomes. Guests can expect full hookup sites that simplify the camping experience, regardless of the season. Additional park features include clean laundry facilities, well-maintained restrooms, and strong Wi-Fi access for those working remotely. The layout prioritizes big-rig accessibility, ensuring that maneuvering into your designated spot is stress-free and manageable for all skill levels.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Durango is a hub for outdoor recreation and historical exploration. Visitors often spend their days riding the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, which offers a scenic journey through deep canyons and high alpine terrain. For those seeking active pursuits, the nearby Purgatory Resort is a premier destination for skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. Additionally, the ancient cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park are within a reasonable driving distance for a memorable day trip.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent fit for travelers who value consistency and accessibility. It is particularly well-suited for full-time RVers who need a reliable home base that does not close during the shoulder seasons. Whether you are a skier looking for a convenient spot near the mountain, or a road-tripper exploring the scenic Million Dollar Highway, the park provides the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable and productive stay in beautiful Durango.

I can't really be objective as my father and step mother own and operate this park. I can say they only accept single, male, full time residents.

This resort is expensive. We are paying $93 per night. They say they have internet- no. I called and asked they said they would reset it. Still no internet. The picnic tables will give you splinters on your butt. The trash dumpster is “conveniently” located at the front. We are in the far back property and the dumpster is located for the convenience of the trash company. I would NEVER recommend this park.

Had to drive 45 minutes because they didn’t answer their phone (called 4 times in the span of a week and never got a call back). When I got there I explained what I was looking for to the owner and they told me they weren’t accepting new tenants unless I sign a year lease which isn’t posted anywhere on the website. My first language is Navajo so it took a second for me to remember what the word “lease” meant but once I did I was like “okay! No prob” And let her know she had a TV package on her porch. Just wanted to let her know because it looked expensive and I didn’t want anyone to take it. She told me “yeah, that’s where they drop off packages.” and I said “I know! I’m just letting you know”. This lady was glaring at me through the entire interaction. Can’t say I recommend this place.

Beautiful property... except for the junk yard below and the owner's massive junk. Water is not safe and rusted water lines. Laundry facilities have rusted washers and are extra small ($3, if you don't mind rust!!) Main house, where mailboxes and (not private) bathroom is has a funky smell (like old people). Owners are rude and don't like women. Dawn told me that "women don't pay their bills" and "women complain too much" (speak up when things are wrong!) Sad!!! Dawn and Norman outright lied to me on 4 separate occasions. They are unprofessional, pathetic, old grumps! I'm so glad to be out of there! Beware... especially if you are a woman!!
