This place is definitely an ATV paradise, but not so much a campground. We ended up here during a busy holiday weekend since it was the only spot available. When we arrived around 10 pm, our assigned site was already taken. Luckily, there were a few open spots nearby, so we just picked one and didn’t make a fuss. Although it’s called a campsite, it’s really just RV parking. There’s no privacy at all — spots are crammed right next to each other. Now, about the ATVs… Quiet hours are supposed to start at 10 pm, but the “no riding” rule doesn’t kick in until 12 am and goes until 6 am. Honestly, I don’t get how that works because ATVs are super loud, and many riders blast music on top of it. We even heard them running well past midnight. The bigger issue, though, is safety. Some riders don’t use the designated entrance and instead cut through empty sites, including the one right next to ours. If you’re tent camping or walking around at night, that feels dangerous — not just noisy. At one point, the group next to us started setting up a tent, left it unfinished, and riders ended up running over it. Bathrooms were okay. The campground itself is okay but can see trash left on the sand. Overall, it felt less like camping and more like trying to sleep in a busy parking lot that comes with a public bathroom nearby. Oh yeah, no cell service.

Had no idea the campground would be an atv track We couldn’t tell from the recreation.gov site that it would be super loud with folks running atvs around until late at night

It was a nice time, we aren’t sand dune enthusiasts, but if you want to have fun with toys and partying, it would be nice.

Had a great time camping in the east dunes lot last weekend. We were the first ones there on Thursday afternoon. Sites are large and have plenty of room. Not much pavement to ride on to get to the sand entrance. Had a good group of people this weekend. Even caught a beautiful sunset out the back of the campsites. Will definitely use this lot again.
