Edgar Evins

Overview

Edgar Evins State Park is a premier destination for RVers seeking scenic views of Center Hill Lake in Middle Tennessee. Nestled in the rolling hills of Silver Point, this park is famous for its unique wooden platform campsites that provide a distinctive living experience. These platforms elevate your rig, providing a level surface and a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding hardwood forest. It is a quiet retreat that prioritizes natural beauty and outdoor recreation over commercial resort frills, making it a peaceful haven for dedicated nature lovers.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Silver Point, TN, the park encompasses approximately 6,000 acres on the shores of Center Hill Lake. The landscape is characterized by steep, lush ridges and deep hollows typical of the Eastern Highland Rim. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by dense forests that come alive with vibrant colors during the autumn months. While the terrain is rugged, it offers some of the most striking lakeside vistas in the entire state park system, providing a dramatic and secluded backdrop for your outdoor stay.

Amenities & Park Features

The RV sites feature water and electric hookups with 30 and 50-amp service available to accommodate modern campers. Because of the hilly terrain, the elevated concrete and wood decks are a standout feature, protecting the natural landscape while offering a flat parking surface. Park facilities include:

  • Multiple bathhouses with hot showers and modern restroom facilities.
  • A seasonal dump station and an on-site laundromat.
  • A full-service marina with boat slips, a seasonal restaurant, and a gift shop.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Water activities are the primary draw, with the lake offering excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, and bass fishing. The nearby Caney Fork River is legendary among anglers for its world-class trout fishing located just below the dam. Hikers can explore over 11 miles of winding trails, including the popular Millennium Trail. For a memorable day trip, the stunning cascades at Burgess Falls State Park and the famous swimming holes at Cummins Falls are both within a short driving distance from the campground.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for travelers who enjoy scenic lakeside camping and do not mind navigating winding, hilly roads to reach their destination. It is perfect for boaters, birdwatchers, and photographers who appreciate a quiet, rustic atmosphere tucked away from city noise. Because of the unique platform designs, it is best suited for those with mid-sized RVs and trailers who are comfortable maneuvering in a more rugged, natural environment rather than a traditional flat-paved commercial resort.

Such a beautiful state park. It has a tower you can climb up to the top and see the center hill dam so beautiful scenery. The visitor center was being worked on so we had to walk to the back to get in. The ranger working their was very informative and super nice.

Beautiful spot. We put our kayak in at the boat dock and the water was so clean. We will definitely be back!!

Always an amazing time camping at Edgar Evins! It rained cats and dogs the first night, but that just added to the adventure. No luck catching trout in the river, but still had a blast.

Very nice elevated platform style campsites , decent boathouses and restrooms . Multiple boat ramps and area to access the water . Stopped in for the afternoon on our way west, will return for a future extended stay in the fall .
