Egg Harbor Lake Campground

Overview

Egg Harbor Lake Campground offers a tranquil escape nestled within the scenic landscapes of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. This long-standing destination provides a classic camping experience centered around a beautiful spring-fed lake. Visitors often enjoy the tall, mature trees and the peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from the bustling coastal cities, making it a reliable spot for those seeking a mix of relaxation and outdoor recreation in a natural setting.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Egg Harbor City, the park occupies a convenient middle ground between the dense forests of the interior and the vibrant Jersey Shore coastline. The surrounding area is characterized by the unique flora of Southern New Jersey, offering a serene backdrop for morning walks. Its proximity to major roadways makes it an accessible basecamp for travelers exploring the wider region while maintaining a quiet, secluded woodland environment away from heavy traffic and city noise.

Amenities & Park Features

The heart of the campground is the spring-fed lake, which features a dedicated swimming beach and areas for fishing. RVers will find sites equipped with essential hookups to accommodate various rig sizes and power needs. On-site facilities include a playground for children, functional bathhouses, and seasonal amenities like a snack bar. The park also provides picnic areas and grills, encouraging guests to enjoy traditional outdoor meals under the canopy of oaks and pines that define the property.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the lake provides plenty of on-site entertainment, the park is only a short drive from the high-energy excitement of Atlantic City. Guests can explore the famous boardwalk, visit historic lighthouses, or enjoy local tastings at the nearby Renault Winery. For families with younger children, the whimsical Storybook Land is just minutes away, offering a variety of themed rides and attractions that perfectly complement a weekend camping trip.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is an ideal choice for families and budget-conscious travelers who want to experience the Jersey Shore area without the high costs of beachfront accommodations. It appeals most to those who appreciate a nature-focused environment where the primary draw is the water and the woods. I input the dates for my trip & received the following info. Before I booked I looked at the website & found they were closed most of the week I wanted to book. I spoke to the owner who refused to even work with me on it, said it didn't show what I took a picture of and told me if I wanted to spend that amount I should go to a state park. That is false advertising & I am also sending this to the BBB

I absolutely love this place! Everything you need is close by, and the clean lake is especially amazing — swimming there is so much fun. The best time to visit is when the temperature is between 75–80°F; after that, it can get a bit stuffy. The staff is super friendly, and I really enjoy the fresh forest scent in this campground — it reminds me of a fir tree forest. A great place to relax and recharge!

Great campground - Nice campsites, lots of shade, beach right in front of site, very clean and staff was very pleasant. Has literally thousands of blueberry and huckleberry bushes in full fruiting season in the first week of July! You could have 200 people picking and you wouldn’t leave without a ton berries. The nice lady at the snack bar makes the best empanadas I’ve ever had! We asked her if she would make a dozen for us to take on your way out and was happy to oblige us.

A step back in time to the lakes I grew up with here in South Jersey. Well worth the reasonable entrance fee and amenities! A bit of a drive to escape the congestion created by the REDICULOUS building of homes here in Gloucester County! Why people are flooding into NJ and NY State Ill not understand! 🙄
