El Reno West KOA Journey

Herds of buffalo once roamed Oklahoma, and some of the shaggy beasts still hang around the El Reno West KOA.

Herds of buffalo once roamed Oklahoma, and some of the shaggy beasts still hang around this KOA. The buffalo (in a pen, of course!) are just one reminder of this region's frontier heritage. KOA's paved roads lead to shady or satellite-friendly campsites, a swimming pool, a game room, a fishing pond, pedal karts and an entertaining and unique Jumping Pillow! You're within walking distance of the Cherokee Trading Post, so take time for an evening stroll and see the 150-foot mural depicting the Cherokee "Trail of Tears" and Native American tepees. Then enjoy a buffalo burger and a piece of homemade pie at the restaurant before retiring to your campsite or scenic Cabin. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 100 feet.

I stayed in a "Deluxe Kabin" and was surprised to find that unlike other KOA Deluxe Kabins I have stayed in at other locations, linens were an extra $15. That $15 did NOT include towels. This was basically a Kamping Kabin with a bathroom. The water from the shower and bathroom sink had a very weird sour smell that stays with you. It was immaculate and the staff was very friendly, but the Kabin was not worth the price for "Deluxe." At other KOAs, the Deluxe Kabins have linens, a fridge, towels, and a microwave. Also...if you are a light sleeper, the Deluxe Kabins are right by the interstate and the road noise is extremely loud. I hate to be a complainer....but this definitely was not Deluxe by any means. For another $20, I could have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express down the road.

This KOA is a nice as any I've been to. They're about half an hour outside of OKC. The bathrooms are very clean and close to the campsites. The only down side is the smaller trailer sites don't have sewer.

Beautiful park. Great playground for children. Clean, hot showers. As with most KOA Journeys, it's next to the freeway, so bring your earplugs. There's a fenced dog park up near the buffalo pen, a few goat heads along the way. Cute cabins on the river and shady camp spots if you don't need sewer.

First camping trip to test out our camper! The site was great. Loved the patio and grill that came with our pull through spot. Met some great people, the dogs loved it too.

We stayed overnight here on our way to Arkansas. Nice pull through sites. Easy and fast to get in and set up for a quick stay. Great location right off the interstate.
