Elk City / Clinton KOA Journey

We had booked a cabin and pre-paid. We arrived at approximately 9pm. Although our reservation sheet was available at the front, the cabin was locked and unavailable to us. We called the phone numbers listed, but nobody was available. We left a note and were forced to find other accommodations. We received a call the next morning. I made it clear that they need to have someone available for after-hours phone calls. I was informed that after they close, nobody is available, but that "some of the regulars have their personal cell numbers". This isn't acceptable. The basic little trucker motel down the road had a human awake at 9:30pm. After-hours availability isn't some special service, it's a basic minimum. Our issue wasn't dangerous, but represents lazy negligence. KOA recognizes this. The KOA-produced forms include a space for an after-hours phone, but it was left blank. Good news... Forgiveness is real. When you start offering an after-hours phone, let me know. I will randomly test it, and if a live person answers, I will delete this review.

This is a nice campground in a quiet location with no other buildings or facilities around it. They have a small restaurant and bar. They have a pool and a fairly large dog park. They have many pull through areas for larger RVs, as well as some small cabins and some tent sites. The restrooms and showers were very nice. We only stayed one night as we were on our way back home from vacation and I was very impressed by there kindness and efficiency.

Nice park in the middle of nowhere. The staff was attentive and took good care of us. The Moose Knuckle, on the other hand was pretty marginal. We were there Sept 18 and the Moose Knuckle has pretty limited options; no burgers, no beer. They had limited mixed drinks and limited Barefoot wines. Because of their location, they are the only game in town.

We arrived just before dark and spent only one night. Front desk lady was very nice. They have a bar "The Moose Knuckle " 🤣 but we didn't get a chance to check it out. Front of campground is very nice, sure wish we would have been assigned there. We were in the back, which is just like a grass parking lot, very little room in between rigs. This has been our experience with KOA as we've traveled across the country. I will never understand why they pack is in like sardines, when there are a ton of empty sites -- try to spread is out, and fill in as needed. Trees are heavily pruned and do not count as "nicely shaded". Very easy to access from I-40. We did not hear the highway noise. The campground wifi didn't reach us back there but the front desk told us that at check in. They need to add a wifi extender. We had full hookups which all worked properly. There were campers there who obviously full time live there, grass was not trimmed at all around those sites, added a sloppy, unkempt look to the campground. This site fulfilled our needs for one night as we travel home.

We stopped here on our way home from a cross country road trip and so we maybe spent six hours in the cabin. When we arrived, the front light was on and the air conditioning was also blowing cold air. Very nice. I would say the only concern was the bugs which given the time of year is hard to avoid, but having the front light on all evening before we arrive, probably attracted more bugs than needed and would suggest a motion detector Light to help mitigate that. The cabin was very clean and was easy to find. The closest bathrooms were locked, but the other ones were not too far of a walk.

Nice, clean campground. The staff Bennett over backwards to accommodate me on short notice. The food was really good too!

Clean, well maintained! Super friendly check in. Loved our little cabin. There’s a super fun little bar inside the main office. Fishing a short distance away. We’ll definitely be back!!!

Unplanned stay in our mh, 2 nights to avoid a nasty storm going through east of us. Great find! All the amenities you expect plus some (tavern/food/small conveniencestore)! Staff was very friendly. Competitive rates. Right off the freeway, just minutes from Elk City, this place is a good stopover or a destination 👍👍

Absolutely disgusted. My family, with children are traveling across the United States for our summer vacation. I didn't even get a chance to stay at this place as I was told, for tent camping, they allow dogs with no problem, all sized dogs, no fee.....except Pitbulls. So this place is out despite having one of the most kind, loving, and well-trained dogs I have ever seen, ever, anywhere. Prejudice is a shame no matter who or what it's directed to. I wonder what their views are on people with Tattoos. A lot of people with tattoos have hurt other people. I'm completely beside myself.

This was a beautiful KOA. Bathrooms were spotless. New washing machines. Friendly Staff. A special thanks to Jason who was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.😊
