Escapees Rainbow Plantation

Overview

Escapees Rainbow Plantation serves as a peaceful retreat in Southern Alabama, offering a welcoming atmosphere for both short-term visitors and long-term club members. As a key part of the Escapees RV Club network, this park emphasizes community, safety, and shared experiences among nomadic travelers. Visitors often appreciate the large, shaded sites and the mature oak trees that provide a sense of privacy and natural beauty while remaining accessible for big-rig travelers looking for a stable landing spot in the Deep South.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away in the heart of Baldwin County, the park is situated in the quiet town of Summerdale. This central location offers a perfect balance between rural Alabama tranquility and modern coastal convenience. It serves as an ideal home base for exploring the Alabama coastal plain without the crowded atmosphere of the immediate beachfront. The surrounding area features rolling agricultural land, quiet backroads, and is a short drive from major supply centers and scenic local parks that showcase the region's natural flora.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped with essential facilities designed for both daily comfort and active socialization. Residents can enjoy a refreshing swimming pool during the humid Alabama summers or participate in organized social gatherings at the expansive clubhouse. Practical needs are met with high-quality laundry facilities and clean bathhouses. For recreation, the park offers pickleball courts and a designated dog run, while the indoor library and hobby rooms provide quiet spaces for reading and creative relaxation among fellow club members.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

A major draw for this park is its convenient proximity to the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, which are located just a short drive to the south. Visitors can enjoy pristine white sand beaches and world-class fresh seafood before returning to the quiet of the plantation. Shopping enthusiasts will appreciate the nearby Tanger Outlets in Foley, while nature lovers can explore the charming town of Fairhope on the cliffs of Mobile Bay or visit the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in nearby Mobile.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is best suited for Escapees members and full-time travelers who value a sense of community and a quiet, home-like environment. Lots of open space. Had a nice time visiting with my grand children. Played catch, touch football. Nice roads. Very safe and lots of space for kids to play. Nice distance between RV lots. Gives privacy, but also a nice sense of community.

Back to being a nice place. Same caring sharing community full of activities with a new engaged management. Cleaning, repairing what needs it, along with looking for ways to improve existing facilities and add some more.

We have lived full time in an RV for 22 years and have visited this park many times. In fact it is one of our favorite parks in the U.S. because of the trees and the friendly people in this area. We have had good times here and some bad experiences over the last few. Since the park has been purchased and is now managed by new people, the park is now back in high cotton. The pool and clubhouse are open again and there are lots of activities to enjoy. I also see many improvements in the maintenance here.

This park is FABULOUS. Beautiful country setting, big community center with several different activities daily, really big pool, and meals served a couple nights a week. The staff is friendly, helpful, and informative about the RV park and community of permanent residents. Coffee service in the community room !!! Plus, it is only 20 miles from several beaches and three casinos within an hours drive.
