Eufaula Lake - COE/Dam Site South
Overview
Dam Site South is a classic US Army Corps of Engineers (COE) campground situated on the sprawling shores of Lake Eufaula. As Oklahoma's largest lake, this destination offers expansive views and direct access to recreational waters. The park is well-known for its rugged natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, making it a staple for regional travelers seeking a traditional camping experience. It provides a reliable base for exploring the southeastern part of the state while maintaining a strong connection to the landscape through well-maintained facilities.
Location & Surroundings
Located in Enterprise, Oklahoma, the park sits just south of the Eufaula Dam. This positioning provides a unique mix of elevated lake views and easy access to the water’s edge. The surrounding area is characterized by dense woodlands and the rocky terrain typical of the Canadian River valley. Because it is slightly removed from the busier tourist hubs, visitors enjoy a sense of seclusion and quietude, surrounded by the diverse wildlife native to the Oklahoma cross timbers region.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features well-spaced sites equipped with electric and water hookups, accommodating various RV sizes. Guests have access to essential facilities including:
- A convenient on-site boat ramp for lake access.
- Clean shower facilities and flush toilets.
- A dump station for easy RV maintenance.
- Designated fishing piers and shoreline access.
Families often appreciate the on-site playground and the numerous shaded picnic spots that are perfect for afternoon gatherings overlooking the dam.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing is the primary draw here, as the waters around the dam are famous for trophy-sized catfish and crappie. Beyond the park, visitors can explore the city of Eufaula for local dining and shopping. Nature enthusiasts should visit the nearby Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge, which offers excellent opportunities for bird watching and hiking. For a bit of history, the dam itself is an impressive engineering feat that provides educational viewpoints just a short drive from your campsite.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal match for outdoor enthusiasts and anglers who prioritize proximity to the water over luxury resort amenities. It is a fantastic choice for families looking for an affordable, nature-based getaway where they can disconnect. If you value scenic waterfront sites and a slower pace of life, Dam Site South offers the quintessential Oklahoma lake experience that keeps travelers returning year after year.

hidden treasure of a little park. nice boat ramp, pristine grounds keeping , unfortunate name. if you boat, go here, theres an actual dock and actually sandy beaches within a mile over water. the entrance for the park area is not well marked, south bound traffic take the first paved right hand turn after the dam
